Bob:
Tried sending you a PM, but they didn't go through ?

When I speak with them in the morning,I'll ask that they make a new tank to the measurements I wanted,powdercoat it,then we can exchange the tanks,that will save me better than 2 hours of drive time.

It's been real slow at work the last few weeks ,and out of the blue,I'm working every day this upcoming week ! but can't afford to take off work for this.

I'm sure it will be taken care of.

Thanks,
Bill

I have another question about the expanding of tanks, the shape of the coffin is sort of funnel shaped,it gets narrower as it gets to the bottom,if the very bottom measured 23" wide {and I'm using 1/4" solid rubber neo below the tank to elevate}
would I still have a problem ?

I'm going to re-measure the coffin around lunch-time, and I'll get a better idea on this.
also, my partners aren't too happy about this either,they are ready to foam me in that coffin.

ordered what I believe is all of the hoses,last night.
with that I ordered a new sea dog flip up fill in SS,and a new vent {not sure where the original was ?} the vent is a SS seadog flush mount, but I'm not sure where to mount it ? does that go on the top side of the boat{rail} where the fill is ?

thanks,
BIll

I shouldn't have a problem with the width being 23" ,the well measures 24" across.
The only concern I have,and I mentioned to Phil was the thick aluminum straps that are mounted on fiberglass and screwed into the sides of the coffin. The tank may touch those straps {thats why we were ordering 22 1/4" max width}

Phil said to use rubber under those straps {I planned on doing that anyway }

Is it what I asked for, NO,and if a problem comes up due to this,I'll be going back to them.
but if this works, {and it should} I'm fine with it !

I'm confident this will work,and glad Phil probably won't need to re-do a tank for us.

Thanks,
Bill

Bill,
Install the fill on the deck, the vent just below the rubrail.  Make sure to loop the vent hose (route the hose up under the gunwale, then back down to the vent) before you attach it.

Bob:
our old fill up on the rail doesn't look bad ?,it just doesn't have a cap.we should get a better look underneath when we
unscrew it and re-snake the new fill hose.

I ordered a new fill just in case that was meant to go up on the rail, is there any reason not to have the fill up on the rail ?

We really can't work on the boat where it is being kept.....,I'm going to suggest we move it so we can get some thing finished.

The console is bugging me as well.{this is an old pic of what it looked like new,{but you probably new that having worked for the company  :mrgreen:
http://www.classicaquasport.com/gallery ... photo/2736
it's a very small console,and on mine,I'll need to add a piece of 1/4" starboard on the face of it to mount a gauge formation.
Do those gauges go deep into the console ?

Thanks,
and keep the suggestions coming !

Bill,
Looking at the FF (before my time), the helm reminded me a lot of the late 90s 215 DC. This is a pic that might give you some idea as to how to lay it out.  Even this one looks like it has been modified:  215 DC Helm Layout

The gauges should have as much room as you can get behind them, as it makes future TS issues that much easier when you have some room to work.  You should have some sort of access panel on the cabin starboard side aft bulkhead to get at the helm wiring.  Correct or no?

Just hanging around...Rick probably is too, unless he went fishing.  Snook up the canals will be hitting tonight. Water is a little warmer.  Toss a shrimp/pinfish/sardine under the docks... :D

Bob:
The console on the DC is much nicer {and larger} than on the FF.
I wish I had a console like that !! the wheel alone takes up almost all the space.

believe it or not I haven't had the tarp fully off yet, we can't do anything where it is,and it got cold again today.

another tank question,

what sealant can I use on the threads for the Feed assembly screwing into the tank as well as the barbed 3/8" fitting screwing into that ?
they simply said find some gas resistant sealer for that {they didn't have any at the shop ?}

Thanks,
Bill

Bill,
We use a Loctite sealer, comes in a brushable little container, let me see if I can find it for you (can't remember the Loctite number off hand and don't have any at home!).

I'll get back to you in about an hour.

Bob:

I know you suggested a deck mount fill,but since we have the fill location {hole}  up on the rail, can we use the original location, or is it a bad idea  ?,

Thanks again  :salut:

Bill,
This is what we use on fuel tank fittings and fuel manifolds.  Loctite Gasket Sealant

received the loctite order and have the fittings installed.
I plan on picking up either a 1/2" or 1/4" piece of StarBoard material for the face of the console {To cover up those old holes}

I located a painter close by the boat and my partners and I will use his service for the bottom {prime coat blue,then 2 coats of Micron Black"}
he also said he may have a place close to the marina that we can work on the boat {"Once the weather gets better"}

Were about to be "Rocked" by Mother-Nature with a March storm, we may get 12" this time....
Seems frustrating as I want to start working on the boat and can't seem to get anything done  :(

Bob:
I'm not sure if you mentioned it in an earlier reply/post, ?
But what was the depth of the gauge set ?

Thanks,
BIll
