she looks like an utter pig right now  :mrgreen: , we haven't been able to clean it where it's currently being stored, we rented a power washer that helped cut through the gastank foam,and that stuff is all over the inside of the boat.
we wanted to use the the power washer to then clean the boat,but the owner of the house where it's being stored pulled the plug.
I'll snap some pics of the Console the next time I'm up there !

Good luck with work !
We have been so slow right now it's scary {Hospitality business} I'm a Banquet Captain for Doral,and normaly get corporate groups during the week,and catering functions on the weekend, but nobody is spending....

Thanks,
Bill

Bill,
We shall all keep our fingers crossed.  What we are going through now, as a nation, is nothing like anything that has been seen before...My hopes lie on the new administration, and new ways of doing things.  Because, I believe, it's pretty evident the old way of doing things is not going to work anymore.  Sometimes, I wish 2 things.  One, man  would pay attention to history.  Two, man was born without greed.  Alas, I may be a fool... :)

we were talking about this the last time I was at work, but the question came up......
How CLOSE are we at a depression ? , I was thinking when the unemployment rate rises to more than the actual employment rate ?, we have to be the closest we have ever been to that point {I would think ?}

It will turn around I'm sure,but how many will be able to survive through it ? scary times for sure.

and lastly,  No...your not  :salut:

Thanks,
Bill

Bill,
You ask some excellent questions.  President Obama has stated that we, as a nation, are in "uncharted waters".  We, as mariners, know what that means.  The one's, at sea, with open minds, find that a challenge and use all of the senses, common sense included, to rise up to the challenge of not knowing what lies ahead, and dealing with it as it presents itself.  Those with closed minds preach gloom and doom because they fear, as sometimes fear is what they are taught, and therefore identify with.

Are we in a depression?  Some say we are.  Some say we are approaching one.  Some say we are already in one.  And most say things will get worse.  I have a plan to bring this great country back to where it was, but it would upset the "Global Trade" as we know it today.  If you would care for me to expound, I will.

Bob

Well, Not much of an update

But I spoke to Phil yesterday,and when he informed me my tank was ready, I decided to just have it powdercoated !
I just need to pick up{or order} some fill/feed/breather hose, I'm guessing the original feed is fine ? {although I need a cap}
Phil also ordered 15' of tank rubber for my application ! {the rubber was $50.00}, I didn't think it would be so much ?

picked up 2 pieces of 1/2" Starboard for the back sides{where the feed/control cable comes through} to replace very old 1/4" ply ?} as well as a new 4" control cable boot for all the cables/hoses.

also, received my PlasTeak order today,my order didn't have allot of grain on the top like the samples did ?, but it didn't look bad {just not as good as Real Teak}.

I plan on doing the tops of the sides {back of the boat} as well as the rod holders mounted vertically below the gunnels on the sides.

I need to come up with some sort of plan for a new cuddy door,I really want a door made out of this stuff,but can't figure out how to do it ? {this stuff is "NOT" glueable} I could use some ideas ?

thanks,
Bill

Bill,
Hate to tell you this, and I'd shoot that sorry-ass tank builder for charging you that, but we pay 41 cents/foot for tank rubber.  Even doubling that would have been $12.30.  SHAME ON HIM!

Anyway, how about splurging and making the companionway door out of real teak?  Just an idea... :D

Wow :x  , I'm friggen pissed now, I haven't picked up my order yet,and if thats the case, I won't take the rubber...... he ordered something called Buna n rubber ?
Where do you guys order from ?
I'll just place an order from the place you guys get it from  if he got overcharged,or....is overcharging ?

The only reason for the PlasTeak was that the samples looked good and I wouldn't need to do anything to it ever !

Bob:

is that a "solid rubber" neoprene product ?, or is that a sponge type and if solid,what is the hardness ?? {or does that not even matter ?}
there are so many choices, and I'm finding out that these companies only like to deal with other companies....

I tried Mcmaster and they wanted $15.00 for a very short piece {36"} ??? :shock: add in shipping and it's very expensive.

can I buy some through you or someone on this site !
is a 15' section enough for my application ?, 58" x 22" x 8"  ? {2 mounting straps}
Thanks,
Bill

Problem solved !

15' wasn't going to be enough for the way I wanted to do it,so I found a rubber Co. close by,and he's selling me a  scrap piece of solid rubber neoprene {gas/oil resistant} hardness of 60 , 34' long  x 3" wide  x 1/4" thick . for less than $30.00.

I'm comfortable with the $ as I spent a few hours talking with people about this stuff and found it's rather expensive stuff.

it's not Buna N,but it didn't have to be.

Thanks,
Bill

another update ,and not a good one...

got a call from the fuel-tank manufacturer {Alloy metal works} that my tank was ready and powdercoated !

hit the cash machine and drove about an hour to their shop, they carried the tank to the truck for me and off I went
{why didn't I bring a tape measure}, the tank is an inch too wide, I wanted it slightly smaller than the original tank that I brought them,and they made it bigger than the original ?

Heres the question,
If I can get this tank in there, it will be a very very tight fit. Does that pose any problem at all ? will the tank expand/contract at all while in there ??

I don't think it will fit,but I'll measure the bottom of the coffin in the morning.....

it was also slightly higher,and 2" shorter than what I wanted, I'm kinda thinking they may have used one off the shelf that was in their shop.
No other way to explain all the measurments being off, and me not measuring it while at the shop. :oops:

Thanks,
Bill

Bill,
Alright, no :*: footing around here.  You provided the manufacturer with the measurements you wanted, and the product you got was not what you paid for.  Time for them to pony up.  Have them send a truck to your place with a plasma cutter, a welder, and someone who knows what they are doing.  Have them either fab a new tank to the dimensions you specified or cut the tank they "built" for you and re-weld it to fit.  Then pressure test it.

This may not be the answer you were looking for, but that's the deal.  Yea, you could cut the stringers, as the tank needs room to expand (trust me, it does!), but that's not what you paid for, is it?

OK -  :!:  :!:
billfish33, please confirm all of this off-line and be sure you're posting exactly what is going on....emotions aside please.
We don't know what transpired between you and the vendor and frankly don't need to know all the nitty gritties.  There are a few members that have had no problems with this vendor and the way it's going, whether the result is good or bad, the vendor will end up looking like crap - fair or not.
Bob, we need to be more-than-careful how we advise..... we're only getting one side here.....
