Bill,
The one tach is an OMC "System Check" version, for Evinrudes and Johnsons.  Mercs don't have that feature.

Which doesn't mean OMC/BRP owners are "idiots"...

Bill,
Do you mean something like this?  Doable, as I had to have my Faria guy get this one specially made.  Let me work on it (this tach w/hourmeter goes for $100) and I'll get back to you.

Everyone is at the Miami show this weekend, HOPE WE SELL SOME BOATS, so it's a little hard getting hold of some people right now.

Here is a set I got for a guy with twin OMCs on a Mako.  Click here.  They look pretty damn good.

Those gauges are nice and easy on the eyes.  My Yamaha tach is flakin' out - they don't give them babies away.  :(

Bob, I tried red oak stain, cherry stain and just urethane on my oak scraps to see what matched the floor and it looks like the urethane is the way to go.  The cherry was next but still too dark and the red oak was wwwwaaaayyy too dark    Wonder what they're thinkin there?  Must be a "northern" thing - seems dark furniture is the way to go, up north. (I opened my self up here for sure now  )

Rick,
Give DT's suggestion a whirl.  If it's a little too light, you can always apply it heavy.

Sorry about your Yamaha tach.  Unfortunately, we "don't do" Yamahas, so I don't have an in with them.  Vito pissed off several people over the years when he was their SE field application engineer, and Proline has stayed away from Yam ever since.  Funny thing is, he left there 4-5 years ago.

would that tach/hour meter work with my merc ? {1999 200 HP 2.5L "2-stroke"}, you did say some extras {those lights on the other gauge} only work on those evenrude/johnson omc O/B's

and that set on the Mako looks great !!!,they look great with that black backround, whats your opinion with them mounted directly onto the white console ?

I'll take a ride over to the boat in the morning to take some measurements to see what will fit !

I like the tach/hour-meter if it works in my setup ?
so that tach with speedo $/without speedo $
as well as your suggested gauges for my setup
trim/fuel/water pressure/volts
is water pressure an important gauge to have ?

almost forgot

what size holes would I need ?

thanks again

Bill,
This is what they look like on our 23 Sport.  Forgive the shadow from the T-Top.
23 Sport

They look just as good on white glass as they do on the black starboard.  The hole sizes for the 4" gauges are 3 3/4", and the 2" gauges are 1 3/4".  I'll work up the price in the morn.  But remember, I've got to wait until my Faria guy gets back home (Bradenton) so we can get this done.  As far as the hourmeter, it will work fine with your Merc.  If you want to have a gauge simalar to "System Check", you have to get Merc specific "gauges to show you that.  I wouldn't really waste my time with it, though.

Bob

I want them,I gotta run it by the other 2 guys, but shouldn't be a problem as they are way less $ than in the stores !
When I get up,I'll take some measurements to see what gauges will fit !

Bill,
Production Engineer, Proline Boats.  3 years now.  Mechanical(engines)/Electrical/Plumbing builder at Stamas Yacht for 5 years, Wellcraft/Aquasport for 6.  Been around for a while... :D

BTW, yes, they are back lit.  I personally like to coat the bulbs with red translucent finger nail polish, which is perfect for night lights.

Bill,
This is by far the best boat owners forum on the net.  RickK has done a tremendous job, and, yes, maybe it has something to do with the Aquasports themselves, but you won't find any site better.

However any of of can help, we'll be glad to.  As always, our pleasure, if I may speak for others.

Bob:

I don't have allot of room on the front of my console ?
We have 2,2" holes on the lower left{ mounted vertically},on the right, there is a piece of plywood with some old pull type of controls ??,and a single 2" hole on the bottom of that plywood.
It appears that someone was covering up a larger hole/holes with the plywood, with the pull controls mounted onto it.

Do they make gauge holders {or pods} for boats ?,I plan on removing that plywood from the console,I just need to find out what those old pulls were for ?, I can then cover it with a small piece of starboard ? then re-cut the holes,or mount the big gauges in pods mounted on top of the console ? {Do they make a good marine version gauge pod ?

I Ordered some PlasTeak for the top {sides} in the back of the boat,as well as replacing those old wooden rod holders mounted vertically under the side-rails of the back of the boat.

I wish I was good enough with tools to make a nice strong cuddy door out of this stuff.
I was planning on getting a 1/4" sheet of starboard, then having someone mill a 1/4" slot in some of the 1"X 3" PlasTeak
{7/8" X 2-7/8"} making almost a starboard window with a PlasTeak Frame, then having that same place rip some 1/4" slats out of some extra 1" X 3" PlasTeak, then glueing in thos slats to make it look like a slat door !

However, I found out this stuff can't be glued ?, so the sides of the door has to have oval holes{routered} for the slats to stay in place.
This is was beyond what I can do.

Thanks,
BIll

Bill,
Now if I had built your boat, I could probably give you direction off the top of my head.  But in your case, I NEED PICs!  And from them, I'm sure we can figure out what you want to do with a minimum of fuss, tooling, and assembly, not to mention cost.  But pics would go along way.   :D

BTW, hope you had a good weekend.  Looks like I may be back to work come March. :bounce:  :bounce:
