Wow, he must have made a mistake and did a mass dial instead of just calling someone.
You know how those salesman people are, always thinking :thumleft:
I think that makes 5 or 6 who were promised this item.
Seeing all the post here,
I did a little recon on the usual sites.
THT, Ebay, Craigslist, etc.

Seems like there is an all out bidding war on the net.

We know this would be a give away with MOST people from this site.
Especially knowing this was "found" item.
Or, just to keep the CAS site clean, like it was intended to be.

However, this may have been planned from the start and, was stuffed into the box
when Chipper turned his head.
I am sure others will chime in.

Wait!

This is our esteemed Public Relations Director

Is it possible that the multitude of calls were made to generate interest in a free, "discovery" product.....and then.... with excitement at a frenzied peak.....change it to a bidding war   :shaking2:

Could the phone calls be construed as a shill, and therefore illegal???

Is this "Astroturfing?"

QUOTE:

In online discussion media, satisfied consumers or "innocent" parties may express specific opinions in order to further the interests of an organization in which they have an interest, such as a commercial vendor or special interest group. In academia, this is called opinion spamming.[4] Web sites can also be set up for the same purpose. For example, an employee of a company that produces a specific product might praise the product anonymously in a discussion forum or group in order to generate interest in that product, service, or group. In addition, some shills use "sock puppetry," where they sign on as one user soliciting recommendations for a specific product or service. They then sign on as a different user pretending to be a satisfied customer of a specific company.[citation needed]

In some jurisdictions and circumstances, this type of activity may be illegal. In addition, reputable organizations may prohibit their employees and other interested parties (contractors, agents, etc.) from participating in public forums or discussion groups in which a conflict of interest might arise, or will at least insist that their employees and agents refrain from participating in any way that might create a conflict of interest. For example, the plastic surgery company Lifestyle Lift ordered their employees to post fake positive reviews on websites. As a result, they were sued, and ordered to pay $300,000 in damages by the New York Attorney General's office. Said Attorney General Andrew Cuomo: "This company’s attempt to generate business by duping consumers was cynical, manipulative, and illegal. My office has [been] and will continue to be on the forefront in protecting consumers against emerging fraud and deception, including ‘astroturfing,’ on the Internet."[5]

I'm out.

This item is associated with human rights suffering and abuse.

 It is forever tainted.

Wait!

I'm  out....but my onus is to serve and care for the public. Not interested in hawking my wares.

Time for careful analysis:

It is established that we are victims of  a "bait and switch."

This fellow "Chipper" is most likely innocent....if he even exists.

The nitty-gritty. WHY would this "Chipper" fellow place in the bottom of a box of junk a very desirable, very expensive dual Flo-Scan meter?

A: It no longer works.

B: Chipper was unaware the plant was placed.  Was included by another leeching for money.

C: "Chipper" doesn't exist, but makes a good story.

D: Most of the above.

I'd go for "D"..... with a nod to  "A".

Just trying to do my job. Assist the public with impartiality

OMG, I was just thinking.
Since there are so many items cleverly mentioned "kinda for sale"
Should there not be a requirement to purchase a star, a ships wheel, an anchor, etc?
Some sort of symbol for the power sellers here?
Like I said, most people would be giving the items away.
This type of volume selling surely requires a sellers account.
Fair is fair, yeah?

Absolutely!

Reckon we're getting close to where we're treading on thin ice with regard to established board rules, especially considering our new members.  So must say to all.....this has been a fun satire. Hope everyone has chuckled a time or two :thumright:

Independent of this thread, the quote made earlier regarding "spamming/astroturfing for profit" is applicable across the net, even to small clubs such as ours. Search back through today's posts to get a feel. 'Nuff said.

Lewis, you did good on the purchase. Keep posting your progress. You're a good guy and good friend. Thanks for telling me your flo-scan wouldn't work with my small fuel pumps.

So...please send it to Bryan...FREE SHIPPING!!!!

Bry...keep  one eye open

Made some progress.

Got the Uflex steering off. If you look close in this picture the engine bolts are crushed into the transom. More on that in a minute.

Thank god the old 94 has lifting rings built into the powerhead! Bryan's Fichts did not and we had to sling them.

I really don't think the motor has ever been off since it was new.
