More progress!

After thinking about the indentations overnight (and already having some bondo glass) I took Bob's advice and ground the gel out of the dents. I then wiped them with acetone and placed the bolts in from the outside of the transom till they were level with the bottom of the hole. I then mixed some up and spread it across, filling the low spots.

The best thing about bondo glass is just as starts to gel you can either shave it with a knife or start sanding with 80 grit. When it is this state of cure you can really cut some material without a lot of effort. The gelling starts in around 3-4 minutes after mixing.

After wiping all the holes and sanding them with 80 grit I drilled from outside with a 1/2 inch bit through the filler using the hole as a guide.

I then sanded them with 180 and tomorrow I will re gel on top after it cures some more.

The bottom port side one has almost 1/2 inch of filler to get it flush.

I also ordered the TH Marine plates today and will pick them up tomorrow.

And now for Bryan's request. The old binnacle, no sealant of any kind, twenty years of saltwater, still works but how I don't know.

I HAVE A FIX!!!  WOO HOO!!!  So the little boat will basically have a, as new, $2K Chartplotter!!  She must feel special!

Well, if you ever get lost, you can go to the first Island you see and ask directions.

That binnacle looks like something we found diving at Catalina!

I have the ducer...but no DSM 300.  If anybody has a stand alone FF out there that they'd like to part with for a very reasonable price, I'm all ears...

Here ya go Lewis, not in the console yet, just on the bench...

Even has a Navionics card for SE FL and the Bahamas.  The Sea Sprite may see a little Gulf Stream action!!!

This is an E80, so it can do radar too...and I have a Furuno dome...hmmmmmmm......

Got back to the boat and finished out the indents then gelcoated them. They were just kicking pretty good when I left. Looks a lot better and is relatively fair. Bob, you can see part of the wiring I talked to you about.

I have one more pic for you tonight. I mostly worked on the gel tonight, wiring questions start tomorrow!
