That is indeed a 222 CCP. Looks to have been painted. Guessing early 80s (83-84 by the console/coffin box).

Look for the HIN on the transom just under the rub rail.

Will do Capn' Bob. I don't think it has been painted, unless the gel coat was redone?

Weeeelll......A buddy of mine in RI likes trawling boat classifieds and he spotted the 19-6. It looked sweet ( I'm a sucker for Aquasports, Makos, Midlands, Easterns etc) and it had been completely rebuilt from bare shell, rerigged &  included a rebuilt motor. I was after a centre console for fishing here in Sydney (boat prices here are STOOPID) and the poor bugger selling it was basically giving it away......so with the Australian $ being so strong it just made economic sense to buy it and ship it here. We put it on a RORO (Roll On Roll Off) out of Baltimore and 4 weeks later it was here. The only issue was the trailer which had to be made street legal for here.

I love it. Does hammer the fillings in my teeth a bit when it gets choppy out front but I tend to pick my days anyways as I like to get out there some distance. Tuna is about to start running here so that should be fun. Have had a epic summer fishing inside Sydney Harbour. Lots of keeper Kingfish. The harbour is in rude health.

Found it:

Aquasport 222 CCP
Hin# ASPA0351M81A
1985 Johnson 235hp Model# J235TXCOR

So I'm guessing built in 1981? (which would make it the first of the 222 CCP designation?). Picked it up a few weeks back. Its in remarkably good shape for its age. Probably going to put a new T-Top on it though. Would it have had a leaning post originally? It now has 2 chairs.

Does anyone know where the alternate HIN would be on a 1981 222 CCP? Nothing evident on the transom.

You might get lucky looking here but no guarantee.

Yes your boat is the first year of the 222 vs. 22-2 and the first year of the updated console.

Hey, just to keep the forum true, Captain Koz's 1978 200 CCP is no longer with us. It has been retired to the great boat yard in the sky. In its place is a 1979 246CCP, ASP20588M79B
1979 246 CCP project boat forever in development, Chesapeake Bay Virginia

Hey guys, just new to the forum, my background comes from Bertram Yachts worked in models 46' 50' & 60'sport fish, started as a hull laminator and ended up at the PD Product Development, a lot has changed and emerged, new products, new ways of building boats, new technics, etc, etc. Learning every day.
Sold my 302 Scarab, and just got a 1985 Aquasport 222CCP Tournament Master, totally stripped apart, I called it "clean" and my wife said I was nuts, this vessel was built with the intention of tuff to brake down, please don't laugh at the pics, they're only temporary my aqua will be back on the water, faster and stronger than ever.
Plan to raise the transom, new poly-fuel tank, new nida-core floor, will try to rebuff the interior gelcoat but if not will spray with duralac/gelcoat, re-do the center console, T-top, the hull & repower with 250 or 300hp.
If any one has pictures of what the original 222CCP looked like, were hatches go, baitwell, drains, inspection caps, any details and advices are always welcome.
Thanks
Nelson

Welcome aboard Nelson. :salut:

Thanks for starting a separate rebuild thread. I've responded over there so you're off and running. Everything you need to know about CCPs is on this Forum.

Good luck. :thumright:

Well I think I might have the newest 222 CCP so far. Mine is a 1990. The hull ID isQUAA5027F990. It does not have a coffin on the deck, it has a below deck fish box. I had the original 200hp Mercury black max when I bought it. However it was bad 1 cyl had 60psi compression. I put a 1989 Mariner 200hp on it. However I blew it up on the second trip out, due to a fuel tank problem. Now I am in the process of replacing the fuel tank and the engine with a 1999 Johnson Ocean pro 250hp.
