Hi Adam,

Your boat was up for auction a while back by Carteret Community College, Morehead City, NC.

The boat belonged to a friend of mine who donated it to the school.

You're welcome to PM me if you like.

Thanks.

Hi Adam,
Your boat is one I passed on because of the bad Merc on the back, glad someone on here has it. You didn't happen to be at Carteret Comm College to see the boat a day when another guy was there looking at it and passed on were you..

No I was not there that day. That is where I bought it from. I got a steal of a deal on it. Plus I had a good mariner 200hp to put on it.

Been wondering that, too - there's definitely more than 7 out there!

The list so far (w/info provided) covers 3 models from 1978-1989:

kaptainkoz              1978      200 CCP   ASPP0160M78F

allen456              1979      200 CCP   ASPP0226M79A

GoneFission      1980      22-2 CCP   ASPA0345M80I

jdupree         1981      200 CCP   ASPP0590M81D

Capt. Bob              1984      222 CCP   ASPA0492M84E

Hardwater              1986      222 CCP   ASPA05951586

DOCREED              1989      250 CCP   (none listed)

charliemyjak              1981         200 ccp    ASSPP0663M81H
From the examples so far, the CCPs are wearing the years very well <!-- s:D -->:D<!-- s:D --> .  Four of the seven listed were built between 1978 and 1981 - hulls in use for 28-31 years (barely 'teenagers' compared to the earlier flats fishing hulls - but still good) <!-- s:!: -->:!:<!-- s:!: --> .

Those listed include 2 with transom brackets (DOCREED and Capt. Bob - one OEM and one aftermarket?) and 3 representing color gelcoat options (jdupree - Tahitian Tan; DOCREED and Capt. Bob - Pearl Grey) - none so far in the Nightwatch Blue.  Nightwatch Blue and Pearl Grey - along with Ivory Mist - were the color names in use by AS in the 1980 brochure.   I didn't find the Tahitian Tan referenced in the brochures on the site (doesn't mean it isn't, I just didn't find it) but I have seen it referenced on other posts here - and I can see why it's grown on you, j.  Not sure whether the Aquasport color names remained the same through the CCP production years.

Models to date are the 200, 22-2/222 and 250 - no 246 (or others?) yet.

Current locations generally reflect the company's primary areas of distribution at the time - from the Gulf Cost to the Northeast to the Great Lakes

One quirk in the Hull ID #s.   allen456's 1979 200 CCP and jdupree's 1981 200 CCP had Hull IDs that began with the manufacturer code of 'ASPP'.  GoneFission's 1980 22-2 CCP, built in the year between, shows a manufacturer code of 'ASPA'.

Alright, time for the rest of you CCP owners to step up <!-- s:D -->:D<!-- s:D --> - let's get this list goin'.  Year, actual model name, Hull ID #, a couple/few photos and any historical info on the CCPs in general or your specific hull.

Hey guys,

Can anyone of you, that owns a 246 CCP with a coffin box, be so nice as to give me the coffin dimensions? Length, width and height? Could you also tell me the distance betwee coffin box and gunnels (at front point and back)?

Please, it's only 5 measurements, I am thinking of a design/use change for the coffing box.

Thanks for your help in advance

Adam - you are right - 1990 was the last year for the CCP name.  In 1991, under Genmar, it was just called a Center Console.  Then a redesign put a casting platform in the bow and it became the newer Osprey line - the Osprey 210, the oddball Osprey 217, and Osprey 230.

I'm not sure a 217 was ever made - it was an inboard version of the Osprey 210 - I've seen literature on the 217, but have never seen one in person.  The old 22-2 and 246 were sold with inboards - with a nice V-8 sitting under the console.  Sweet boats, nicely balanced, but not for shallow water.  The 217 also had a "console forward" option with 4 seats behind the console instead of the usual 2 - the line drawings/spec sheets show 2 seats facing forward and 2 facing aft.  Again, I've never seen a picture of one that was actually made or heard of someone having a 217 inboard - anybody out there ever seen a Genmar-vintage 217 inboard - 1992 or later?

Maybe the 246/250 CCP wasn't common with the coffin box?  I've been on a 250 CCP but it didn't have a coffin - had a sink up front. Hang in there - someone will see this post and reply.

Based on what I have seen, I think when the 246CCP became the 250CCP they did away with the coffin and went to the below deck fish box as well as the sink that Rick mentioned.  I would guess that this took place in the mid 80's.  The 1979 246CCP that I had did have the coffin.  I have seen several early 80's 246 CCP's with the coffin.

Hey everyone, new member here and I just stroked a check for my first boat last night after the sea trial! She's a 1982 246 CCP with a 1999 200 Johnson. Got a pretty good deal as the boat belonged to a friend of a friend who is taking delivery of his new cabin cruiser this weekend and needed the AS gone.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone and pick your brains. I've already learned so much just by running through some old threads. Seems like a wealth of knowledge on this forum.

I live in Palmetto, FL just north of Sarasota and will likely be boating in the Tampa Bay to Siesta Key area so if you happen to see me out, flag me down to say hey.

I think this boat is perfect for me as a first boat as it is big enough that I will feel safe in just about any conditions but also nothing too flashy so I won't feel bad about putting some dings in the paint as I learn. It's a pretty basic boat and doesn't seem like there's too much I can seriously mess up but there are a few things I'd like to do to make it my own.

- Remove the tower as it takes up quite a bit of cockpit space (and the upper steering doesn't work anyways)
- Refinish the teak accents
- Replace the bilge pump float switch (old one is broken)
- Detail the boat as there's some chalk-ie-ness in the finish
- Reinforce the fuel tank hatch cover as there is a small soft spot at the helm (only soft spot in the boat thank goodness)

Other than that, I have a few ideas in my head but think I will run the boat for the summer and see what I like and don't like and reevaluate for any projects next winter. If you guys have any suggestions or thoughts please let me hear them! I'm a newbie so I'm open to any and all suggestions, comments and criticism. Thanks!

OK, here goes.

First, post a pic of the CG capacity plate.

Next, clean and "oil" the teak. You can get crazy or.... if you're lazy like me, buy some Starbrite teak cleaner/brightener and a stiff nylon bristle brush. Follow the directions and you will be amazed at how much better it looks. (remove the teak for the best effect).

Next, use this.
http://myboatstore.com/teak-guard/

I love teak. Members take great time and pride in sanding in the prep and then applying several coats of something like this.
https://www.westmarine.com/buy/sikkens--cetol-marine-wood-finish--P004_128_002_501

It looks beautiful but it's a lot of work.

Teak guard is is easy and it last in South Fla sun. Does not peel and is easily touched up. Just the thing for a lazy bastard who loves the look of teak but hates maintaining it. That's me.

Lastly, measure your fishbox/coffin and post those measurements here.

That's a start.
Good luck. :thumright:

So it was too windy this weekend to take the boat out for my first non-sea trial voyage on her but we did get it off the lift from the guy I bought it from and to the local boat ramp to put it on the trailer. After adjusting the bunks once, we were off to drop her at her new home.

As requested, I've attached the CG plate but after all these years, I can't make out a single word on there. I did grab the HID though as I noticed other owners posted those. The number for my CCP is ASPZ2022M82B.

I also measured the coffin box last night. The box is 20.25" tall and 76.25" long. Obviously since it is tapered front to back and top to bottom the measurements are somewhat difficult to describe but here it goes. The front of the box, closest to the bow; the top has a width of 24.75" and the bottom a width of 20.5". The back of the box, up against the console; the top has a width of 33.5" and the bottom a width of 30.25". I've attached a drawing to try to help give a visual.

The projects this weekend included a good overall scrub and hull cleaning. I also removed 90% of the teak in preparation to refinish it. Some trim pieces (trim around anchor locker door, console door, and console storage boxes) will be staying on the boat as I think I would do more harm to them trying to remove than it is worth. I'll just try to refinish them where they are. I got the new bilge pump float switch installed and working as well as replacing the stern light with an all-around white light. I need to do some more research but the next free weekend I have will consist of disconnecting the upper station steering and controls and removing the tower. One thing at a time though!
