This is where I'm at with the boat... three layers of mat, tabbed in to the old floor. I didn't truly understand the gelcoat / expoxy discussion, but I have always applied gelcoat directly to hardened glass after using polyester resin... Never had an issue.

I will be working on that Cab-o-sil + gelcoat floor in the next two weeks. I'll let you know how it goes!

looks good @billy626... did you glass right over the older gelcoat edge or did you sand it down to the fiberglass?

@rhtrades Somewhere in between. I had to sand off all the nonskid, so it was sanded down quite a bit, but not all the way to the fiberglass. Didn't even think of that to be honest. Maybe would have been a good idea

Wrapping up this project, figured I would send a final update. After getting the deck glassed in, I spent a few hours sanding down the edges, as well as sanding off the rest of the non-skid on the bottom deck. (the back section that I didnt need to replace.) After everything was sanded, I added 4 layers of unwaxed gelcoat, followed by my last layer of waxed gelcoat with Cab-o-sil to give it that non-skid finish. This was my first time going that cab-o-sil route- came out decent. Wish I added a little more cab-o-sil to give even more grip, but overall came out good. (closeup picture below to see the finish) The new gelcoat is obviously a brighter white than the old, so I taped off a line just up the sides of the boat where the transition is. Happy with the final product overall - The sanding / gelcoat did a great job hiding the new layers of glass - cant see the transition at all. I wish I spent a little more time using hull and deck putty to blend the uneven spots where the deck pieces butt together (there's a few bumps here and there that if you are really looking you can see) but this deck should last me longer than I ever own this boat.
