So you would say use 1708 for transom, stringers, floor and leave the mat for parts which dont require lot of strength......I will def take that advise. Where is a decent place to get a roll of 1708?? Composites one was something like $600 for a roll

you could get away with roving, or a couple layers of a lighter biax like 12oz, or even a few layers of matt for the floor. but youd also be up in labor and resin costs, id just use 1708 like you said, especially if youve got a roll of it. i get all my glass from a place called fiberglass supply depot, he gives me a pretty good deal on stuff. where are you located?

Welcome aboard puttz  :!:  :!:
I'm not even sure I'd call those "stringers" - and I thought some "friday" Aquasport labor was tough - man o man.

You're in the right place for help.  :salut:

You know how they say never buy a car that was built on Monday or Friday..... it applies to boats too.

Prolines as well as Aquasports...

That is a hell of a mess!  A local in CR bought a PL simalar to yours, friends with Johnny Walker, PLs head honcho, paid to have the plant do the rebuild.  Came out pretty nice...but what a job!

puttz... check out http://www.fiberglassservices.com/

they are out of sarasota. Last time I bought a 209# roll of 1708 and it was like $500 bucks. It was well over 150 yards of 1708. They are really helpful and delivery is only $5 bucks! Give them a call, trust me its worth it!

We got alot of work ahead of us Josh!  Start scheduling Proline work parties.....I bring the beer.

Anyone have an idea on the number of under gunwell supports will needed to support the top cap to the hull?

Also with these porta brackets what's the call on transom thickness?

Anyone have any ideas for hatch....no plastic junkers....we are planning on pulling a mold off some existing hatches and making our own hatch lips and drains in the deck?

I have seen a few prolines being rebuilt, and that does not look like a factory job.  Wonder if someone already "rebuilt" it once?

I would suggest you go with two stringers, multiple bulkheads.  Most everyone has done that and it works well.  That boat does not need four stringers, it's overkill.

I agree...As I am progressing further into the rebuild it is def not original! It was rebuilt with straight woven!!! I have alot of grinding to do to get all that woven out of there.  :| ...I will def go with the 2 stringer system....I have not decided what material to make the stringers and bulkheads out of yet. I was thinking coosa board or a foam material. Any Input???
