New Acquisition-2000(?) 20' Cuddy Cabin
« on: November 24, 2011, 02:01:37 PM »
I have recently bought out of a divorce matter what I believe to be a 2000 model "EF", according to a prior owner's survey.  HIN is ASPV0572M81C, and the length is 19' 6" overall; about 21' along gunnel; 27" free board at the stern; 25" transom at the V; with a walk-around cuddy cabin.  I would like to verify the model & weight thereof, so I can get a proper trailer for it.  It is sitting on a single axle trailer, with a mobile home axle(8-14.5 tires); the trailer does not meet current lighting codes, and seems excessively heavy in construction, and I am looking to go to a more standard trailer with 15" tires, hopefully still single axle.  Would like whatever input from the group you would like to send.  Photos will come later-I somehow managed to kill my digital camera. Thanks,  John

'81 and EF go together - here is a '84 model list - could be a 200 EF.

Here is an HIN plate from the little Ranger I have at the house...

It's an '08, note the last 2 digits.  The plate below simply is a Ranger deal, as this little guy was introduced in '04...

Sounds like a 200XF to me.  I was trying to look up the HIN of my 81 model but I don't have it here.

Yeah that is a 1981 200XF built in October of 1981.  My boat was built in December of 81 and was 42 boats later.

So I hope our new friend is not disappointed that his boat is 19 years older than he thought...

Remember the USCG changed the HIN numbering in 1984.  Prior to that, the two digits before the final letter denoted year manufactured, followed by a letter denoting month, with the series beginning with A for August, B for September, etc.

The HIN listed (81C) would be for a boat built in October, 1981.

U R right on the year-I had a brain fart on the year(my other boat is a 2000 Wagner flats boat built in Braedenton, FL) The old survey I got with the boat shows it to be a 1980, but the title, which I finally received(!) says it's a 1981. It does appear to be the 20 ' EF, and is in pretty good shape, considering the prior owner did nothing to keep it up for the past 8 years! Power washed it & removed all the ugly black stuff, and it cleaned up right well. Has new cushions and headliner in cabin, and motor turns over & has good compression, but I have not yet tried to start it.  If it is the EF and has a 78 gallon tank, I have a real problem, as the tank is full and is pre-mixed, as the oil injection has long since been removed from the  175 Evinrude it came with.  I am trying to find a reasonably close outfit that does hazardous material removal to come & pump it out.  Probably will not fix the oil injection due to cost, and likely will sell the rig once I get the OB running and further clean up the boat itself. Thanks for the comments. (I have taken photos & will try & post them soon!)

I have the exact same model and year boat.  The tank is actually 73 gallons (the tag can be hard to read).  It will hold 75 but they have to allow for some air space for expansion.  I premix my fuel as well.  My oil injection worked but there is no place on the 200Xf for a oil tank so I just disabled it. Besides premixing the fuel gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.  :)

Getting rid of old fuel can be difficult.  The EPA forces this ethanol crap on us but when it goes bad in just a few months there is no place to get rid of it!

My boat is powered by a 200 Mercury and it pushes it along at just a bit over 40 MPH.  I wouldn't want it to go any faster than that.  The boat has a nice ride in choppy and rough seas.  I've had it out in 4 footers with no problem...  but that is no fun to be out in anyways.  Good luck with it!

John,
I recently re-rigged an old Proline down here, there was a mobile outfit analyzing the fuel, then pumping out the tank on site at the owner's house.  Ask some marinas up there in MD, I'm sure they have a similar service in your area.  Cost the owner $140...

Do you know the weight of your boat? I am looking to re-trailer it.  Currently sits on a single axle trailer, but it is a mobile home axle with 8.5 X 154 tires.  Also, do you know the size fuel tank? Mine is full of pre-mix, about 8 years old, so I need to dispose of it & place I contacted wants to know about how many gallons. Thanks: John Landbeck
