yes, fillups at the pump can be PAINFUL these days.
That's why I don't let the tanks get too low... too damn depressing!

Yes, I realize that strategy will require me to fill up more often, but somehow it makes me feel better.

$3.48 for Recreational fuel here.  Let me see - 140 gal tank

Bad part is I have to do it sooner or later.... I have about a 1/2 tank, maybe a little under, and the next gathering is coming up soon.

Yep, not only on the international stage, but locally too. That fuel we're talking about at the pump has been in their tanks for a week or three.

After Katrina part of the NC pipeline was disrupted. Didn't affect us here at all, it was a Charlotte/Triad/Triangle thing. Nonetheless, they raised prices here over a dollar over the course of around a day. Then one station (Amoco?) told the employees to raise it 10 cents an hour until folks no longer would buy.

It's kind of like the old "Field of Dreams" line..."If you build it, they will come..."

If enough pundits say we will see $5/gal, guess what, we will...and we'll pay for it...

My parents owned a gas station when I was young and I remember the gas war hitting in '71-'72 timeframe and our gas went down to $.18.  A caddy could pull up with it's big ole tank and fill it up for under $5.

Now I feel old too.

Next birthday will be 56. Cheapest remember was 29 cents a gallon, 1967. That's here. Your mileage may vary...
