Very nice  :salut:
What is the black exhaust on the transom for?

I assume it's a rigging tube?

So a 1 1/2" livewell drain hose will pass through?

Don't know if I understand.  I think this is what it is for (see hose coming out of PORT side of my boat):

I notice you have a spacer under the top Porta Bracket mount and you mounted the bracket about 4"-5" down from the top of transom.

LilRichards boat doesn't have the spacer and is mounted higher on the transom.

How do you determine location or does it really matter with a Porta Bracket.

Just curious since I hope to be installing one on my 22-2 soon.

Thanks.

Love2fish is right, his hull has a vee to it, so the motor rides lower.  You will also see the bracket lower if it's a 20" shaft (which it does not appear to be) versus a 25".

I got a formula from the guys at Porta for mine - I can't recall off the top of my head.  Basically when it's fully down you want it to have the cavitation plate in the "normal" operating range... which is to say just at the water surface when running.

My transom wasn't quite tall enough for me to mount it is high as I would have liked, so when all the way down my motor is too low.  That translates into some unused lift...

Thanks all!
All the input from people on this site really made the difference.
I have to say I never want to add all thr reciepts up though
I can't wait to fish it!!!!

LilRichard is correct on both accounts, it's a rigging gromett.
The Porta Bracket on mine is 21" set back and requires a measurement 30" to the top edge of the bracket from the lowest point on the transom for a 25" shaft.

Believe me, I was on the phone with Scott Porta plenty during mounting
I must say he is a great guy to deal with!!
He walked me through every measurement.
No question too stupid!

The riggers on here have only good to say about that gentleman.

You have accomplished a beautiful rebuild kedd. Congratulations!

Don't add up the receipts

If you try and financially justify boat ownership...you'll never own one.

Strut that girl around Tampa Bay like the doll-baby that she is

Thanks Grand,

Well I have to settle for Montauk, Cape cod and Long Island sound.
Tampa Bay would great but a long trailer run.
I fish Sarasota quiet a bit with my friend though.

I should make the trailer run just to have a tower made by people who know how to build one.

She'd strut on Tampa Bay...but she's really gonna be the queen of LI sound :thumright:

And here's the cool thing...you have a new, true Florida rebuild...on Cape Cod!  And a sugar-pie to boot.

I for one am slobberin'.....

It really looks nice! I agree with Gran, do not add the receipts up!  EVER!!!

I have a question, I went back and reviewed your whole thread from the beginning. In those first pictures were those rigging tubes from the factory?

I think your transition from the cap turned out great! You maintained the original look and raised it at the same time. I wonder how many other Portas are in your area, I am betting other boaters are going to look at it and say " what the heck is that?" Of course they will be drooling at the same time!!!!

Thanks Slvrlng,

The factory tubes are on page 1 and the new tubes I installed are on page 4.

I actually just last month saw a Fl boat up here with a Porta bracket.
They are fishing stripers on the flats.
I think it was a Dorado 23.

Well Monday is the sea trial.
She better float like the float test or there will be tears.
It will be tower time if that happens
I wish I didn't have to paint the bottom, but its in a slip.

Here are a few pics.

That's the way you do it!  :thumright:

Your rebuild ran almost parallel to Scott's (thennuts). Both are great examples of hard work, dedication and a wealth of knowledge for future re-builders. Thanks for sharing with the Forum and its members.
