Thanks guys! He is from Montreal, Canada. He works in NYC as a high-end home hardware designer...door knobs, hinges, bath and kitchen fixtures, etc.

Gonna be a little tough to turn him into a redneck...his first lessons begin tonight

Montreal?  Par le vous Francais?  Spent a few weeks up there in the 80s Scott, they don't like us "Englais" speaking folks...

He is the independent type, he designed the ring and a friend made it.

We saw it last night. She seems to like it (but her sissie didn't).

You know how girls are

We performed the Coca-Cola blindfold taste test. I asked them to choose the one that they thought tasted better.

Both products were in glass bottles.

Eight votes for Mexican coke, one vote for American coke. Two refused to participate saying they didn't like coke.

The Mex product was definitely sweeter, with less carbonation.

There are a couple more, one is right by South Coast Plaza, one of the shopping mecca's here.

I bought a Mexican coke at the Mexican place last night. It is in a bottle.

My daughter Sarah missed Thanksgiving, she is home this weekend with her boyfriend. They have announced their engagement, we're having an oyster roast tonight to celebrate.

As part of the festivities, I've hit upon an idea. Will go and buy a couple of US cokes in the bottle(little cokes)  and we'll do a blind taste test among the revelers.

I'll report the findings. A couple of my nieces will be here, they are too young to drink (drink) so they will serve as a control group.

I'm sure at some point they will drink, it's in their genetic code.

I will snap some pics :flower:

Congrats Scotty
Sorry I be late to the party  :(

Wanted to post some pics from last night, but they all turned out blurry. Maybe I'll ask Santa for a camera or smartphone for Christmas :santa:

It's the sugar. Real sugar.

This topic relates to soft drinks

Had a Mexican coke a while back and found it to be "different"....in a good way. Tasted like the coke I remember as a kid. Saw this today on the net.

We have a growing Hispanic population here, and several grocers have opened. Most of the supermercados stock the Mex coke. They have great food too. The real deal, not Tex-Mex.

Our fave place fixes huge cauldrons of meat every weekend. Friday, pork. Saturday, beef. Sunday, lamb. Homemade tortillas and homemade salsa. Lettuce, diced tomato and onion, grated cheese, fresh cilantro, sour cream....oooo-baby :thumright:

Real Coke fans will tell you the original holy grail of the best tasting Coke has always been the small 8oz glass bottles.  Something about the higher pressure of the small bottle and the fact that glass doesn't taint the taste of the soda like plastic bottles or cans do.  At one time they may have had real sugar in them too.  Now the Mexican bottled Coke is popular due to the use of real sugar over the corn syrup and I suppose the glass bottle helps the taste too.  (Just like beer...  bottled beer always tastes better than a can)  As already mentioned after the new coke stunt int eh 80's... classic Coke came out with corn syrup replacing the sugar.
