Aquasport / Dell Quay Dory ?
« on: June 22, 2010, 04:01:19 PM »
Hi guys,
I am new to these forums and have a question.  I recently bought a 1988 aquasport 131 with the dell quay decals on the side.  I have google searched alot with no luck.  From what I can see the body sure looks like the dell quay dorys.  Did aquasport buy the hull molds?  The hull identification # says its a aquasport.

Also I have some water in the hull and I'm pretty sure of the intrusion spots.  I cut out a 3" x 12" section of the center of floor the foam and ply was wet 1" down and 1/4" on the bottom. The center was completly dry.  I pulled all the foam from that area.  I now pull out about 1 oz of water a day with a turkey baster.  It seems to wick out when I cover it up on hot days and then I might pull out 3 oz.  I'm fairly sure the boat isn't water completly water logged. I can easily lift the bow and stern by myself.  But my question is how long should I continue taking out water. At some point I just want to foam it with some ply sandwiched and then glass it.

Thanks, ANY HELP is greatly appreciated

Welcome aboard popperguy  :!:  :!:
I think you may have a different kind of Aquasport then you'll see in any of the pictures seen here on this forum.

Post a pic or two of what you're talking about and we'll more than likely be able to help you out.

Welcome! If she's thirteen feet, take the motor off, flip her,and set her up high enough so that air can circulate for a few weeks. Should dry out nicely. Flip her back over, and continue with the exploratory surgery.

Keep us posted. Tx.

That would be an X-Scape, when Aquasport got a little weird.
