Well if that’s the case I would throw a Johnson second effort 250 tricked out to about 400 hp
But if you want a economical fishing machine then I'd probably go with a 90 yammy four stroke or a yammy hpdi

If money was not an issue, I would go twins Mercury 30hp 4 stroke EFI, at 172lb each motor, it wouldn't put to much weight in the back. And I think it would look way cool a 170 with twins

170s benefit from a lightweight motor on the transom - they don't like a big hunk 'o metal back there. So for overall price, weight, and power, I think an inline 3 or 4 cylinder 90-115 HP would be the way to go. The Suzuki 90 is a good choice as a 4 stroke - only 350 lbs... The 90 eTec is 320 lbs. The 115 Merc Optimax is a little heavy...
For flats fishing, I like Rick's idea - the 75-90HP jet outboard - maybe a little heavy, but you could really go into skinny water!
Cost no object - I would consider a pair of 36 HP Yanmar diesel outboards - run one for great trolling or cruising economy, and crank them both up for some speed. But at $8000 a pop, that's a lot of $$$

if money where no option and while we're already talking crazy, either a 300xs merc, or a 350 yami (804 lbs!!!) or one of them merc racing outboards like you'd see on a f-1 tunnel hull
but really, i would put a 115 yami 4 stroke jet drive(415 lbs) on a jackplate, talk about running in some shallow water

Lots of humor here! 70-90 2 stroke. 4 strokers are just too heavy. My son has an 18' center console(not AS) with an older 90 Merc & it will top 35 with 2 aboard in a 2' chop.

I have a 130 Yamaha on my 170....so far so good. I would have a 115 four-stroke yammi if money was no object or 150 Yamaha 2-stroke with a little reinforcement of the transom
