Filler fuel line replacement
«

More trouble. While I am waiting for a new gas tank I checked the filler and vent hoses. The fuel filler hose broke clean off with the wire harness rusted through. I now have to replace that hose but everything is foamed in the I can't even wiggle the hose. Is there any trick how to get the old fuel filler hose out there?

When I get into the office in the AM I'll get you a couple three links on what other members went through and the results.
More to follow.

Something to mull over:

There are others in the "Fuel" forum that you may want to read through before you begin. As stated in one of the links, you really don't know what you may be up against until you start digging in. Some have tried using a come-a-long to pull the hose out while splicing the new section on to the old but for the most part, access and bends often reduce that method to luck, speaking of....
Good luck and post up a few pics of what you find and your work.
Thanks.

Did my 200XF last year. I cut a hole inside and covered up with a deck plate. To remove foam and filler hose it takes lots of gouging with your hand and a flat bar. You can put an allen wrench on a drill and it will gouge out a lot. But u gonna have to use good old fashion elbow grease and a shop vac to remove enough foam until you can work out the old hose. My hose was cracked and leaking into the foam for who knows how long. The foam was saturated with gasoline. Once you're done you can refill the cavity with 2 part foam. The deck plate option was a lot easier than glassing over in my opinion.
Good luck

Thanks for all the answers. I am still working to remove the old hose. And I have to admit - I find the lack of serviceability on those boats troubling. It would have been easy to run a conduit for those hoses as the manufacturer should have know that they will need to be replaced eventually.

Sad to say, the problem of access to important systems is getting worse as manufacturers have figured out that almost no one buys thinking about making future repairs. A new boat needs to be shiny on the showroom floor and have all the latest comfort features. Fuel tank hatches were the first casualty. Now you need 4 foot arms to even touch a bilge pump. It may be asking a bit much for a manufacturer to think about the needs of the second, third or ???? owner. The good news is, when you make the repair you'll be able to do it right.

I am happy to report that the old fuel and vent lines are finally out. New tank will arrive next week currently installing a new thru the hull vent.
