Just finished doing some work to the boat, and I have some oil/grease smudges here and there, mostly in the form of my fingerprints
Anyone reccomend a cleaner? I was thinking Simple Green...
Thanks

Yes Sir,
Full strength.
I use it all the time.
For stubborn stuff, mineral spirits.

I've had good luck with simple green. Greased lightening is good too but you might want to dilute it a bit. Greased lightening has an acid in it so be careful with it around polish aluminum since it will etch it a bit. (it will brighten oxidized aluminum though) As with any cleaner test it in a hidden spot first to make sure it does not discolor your finish. Purple power is another option but it is strong stuff and I have seen it discolor paints and such.

Mister Clean Magic Erasers work pretty good too. No chemicals are a plus.
And an ultra fine sanding block will work too. The brick style ones. Same concept as the eraser.
My gel is shot so I don't mind, or see, the fine scratches from the sanding block.

wd40 will act as a solvent and remove grease spots.
And, if you are very careful with acetone it will remove grease in a second. Acetone is absorbed into the blood stream thru the skin so be careful.

Purple stuff is great but a little strong.

i like to go old school with alil dawn on a kitchen sponge. cuts grease and softens your hands at the same time.
it takes alil more muscle but wont discolor anything and cost a dollar a bottle. i keep some in my boat. use it to wash hands, mix some in a bucket to clean deck, and put alil in the bildge . works great and easy to wash off. when i worked offshore we would dump a couple in bilge to dilute the oil and stuff before pumping it over board.
