That was the 22-2 FB Diver model in conjunction with the fold down gunnel mounted diver door. You can't make a more Florida boat than that! I believe my buttocks would stay permanantly frozen shut knowing that two pieces of plexiglass were the only thing between me and bottom. What do you think; about 60 seconds for her to go down if one of those panels blew out?

I'm with you Farley, that boat is bad to the bone.

Maybe those panels were made of special 60's space polymers, like they used in the monkey's Mercury capsule.

And re. the blowout....wouldn't take long for her to fill, if one side was completely lost. But, if you knew about it and caught it, you MIGHT could plane her up and get to the hill.

I'm betting 3/4" Lexan, bedded into a receiver on the hull bottom, I'm sure they weren't, and won't go anywhere...

But, unless I'm at Weeki Wachee (OMG, is that where I'm at?), I don't see the practicality...but I like the fold-down dive platform...

Yes you are at Weeki Wachee, home of the glass-bottom boat. And from reports, looks like a good glass-bottom fishery.

Thinking about the window failure model, some things occur to me.  

Assume the compartment with the windows was sealed, aside from the failed window, except for the deck hatch.  Second, the compartment seems to go to deck height, which on a self bailing boat, ought to be above the water line.   Wouldn't that compartment just become a sea chest? Further, if the water did rise to above the hatches, wouldn't it just run down the deck to the transom anyway?

That compartment is a baitwell, So it is sealed from the rest of the boat.
The boat is owned by long time members Bob and Joel - "Those guys" is their username - work in tampa area as marine biologists - maybe FL Marine Fisheries.

nope, made a formica "mold" contoured against the hull bottom and have 3 layers of 1708 laid in from the top, along with tabbing from the stringers and a double layer with the lap of the two 50" wide pieces i put in the bottom and up the chines. probably gonna get another 3 or 4 layers on the bottom...
