Deck hatch
« on: January 15, 2013, 07:11:16 PM »
I need to replace my rear deck hatch which is cracked. It is made by So-Pac and is model # 30155. It seems that no one has these anymore, or at least I can't find one. Anyone know of a vendor who might have one. I could use another brand but I don't know what the opening size is and can't take this one off as all the screw holes are plugged. I don't want to drill out the plugs and find that there are no replacements in that size.

Their new 4000 series hatches are pretty close in dimension, 13-1/8 x 15-1/2 .  Google SPA-40155, "SOPAC" is now "Imtra".

I would be afraid that it might not fit the opening properly, and wouldn't know unless I had the hatch in hand. If it didn't fit I would have to return it and that is a pita. I might see what West Marine has in stock.

How much room do you have? Can you expand the cutout?

Bigger is better...makes it easier to get your head/arm in there to work.

Don't be pigeonholed by original dimensions...go with ease of use if possible.

I would have to look at it a little closer. I think the deck is recessed so that the outside ring of the hatch is level with the floor. I could be wrong, so I will have to check it. I don't really want to start cutting up the deck however. I just need one that will fit the existing cutout.
