How to flip the boat?
« on: May 04, 2016, 10:50:08 AM »
Any ideas on how to flip a boat back over after bottom paint. I was thinking a cherry picker on the back and a fork lift on the front with a strap.

That would work.  Some people get a case a beer and a bunch of friends and roll the boat over, but that scares the crap out of me.  I live near a boat builder that essentially does what you are proposing.  He bolts a jig to the transom (in my case it had the same bolt pattern as a porta bracket) and attaches a sling to it from an overhead hoist, and attaches a sling to the bow eye from a fork lift.  You just need to figure out how to attach to your transom (maybe one stern eye?).

We did the six pack method to flip it over originally, but we didn't care what it look like. Now with a fresh coat of paint on it, I want to be gentle.

I think an engine stand bracket will bolt up to the transom, motor bolt pattern.

I was just curious as to how others have done this.
