No Tv or radio for the day
« on: November 06, 2012, 12:08:58 PM »
With it being election day I have decided not to listen to the radio or watch TV for the day. Sick of all the BS and will be glad when it over.
Probably going to be a long night out in the shop tonight.
I voted  2 weeks ago, Washington is all mail in ballots, makes it easy.

I love my DVR.  I record everything that I am interested in watching including the morning and evening news, then watch it later.  If nothing else I start watching about 1/2 hour after the show starts.   I have worn the > off of the fast forward button but it keeps me from shooting the TV.

I have the TV on, but....it's not for me, it's for Baby.  Same sounds she hears when her Momma is home.  Hell, don't even know what I have it on...

I'm going to the gym after work, then get home and fix a George by George.  Turn on the tube and watch the buzz. Then get ready for "Change we can believe in"        :salut:

sigh

I guess I'll join the 47%, or is it 52% now, and get what I can out of it. Working doesn't seem to get one anywhere.

So what's new????
Same thing happened 4 years ago in the middle of a major financial crisis (for those members who were off planet). Largest "day after" drop recorded.

Scared money always runs.

Sad thing is the Dow is now only up about 64.5% for the last four years with this drop.

UP:      For those of us in the market, we have done well under Obama. :thumright:
DOWN: Probably gonna have to pay more.

Just opened a checking account in the Caymans.

Never said the worst one day loss in the last twelve calendar months was related to the victor. Probably coincidental  Simple observation/reporting.

Change we can believe in

I have no problem with the kazillions I lost today on the overall 2% one day drop in my "secure" retirement fund.

And hey....If you're in the stock market....everyone cries when you take a 300 point hit....but no one gives credit when you take a thousand point gain over the course of eight months. And Bob, you're right....if you had the kahunies the last four years, big money was made trading stocks.

You young guys...let this market settle out to the Dow around 12, 900. And despite the naysayers, invest.

Warren Buffet said "Buy when no one wants it...sell when everyone has to have it".

Follow this one rule religiously, and you'll end up like me and Captain Bob

Scary thing is,
Our "Financial Planner" was terminated last Friday for unethical practices.
Damn, just when we were really making money.

Screw him and Bernie.

CB, the whole damn mess is a farce. Lemme tell you bro...here's where I saw the light.

About four years ago....before the real hard times set in...Carolyn and I went on a well-deserved, nice vacation to Grand Teton, Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Better bring your checkbook...I've never seen such prices, even abroad.

So we go on a boat ride. Jenny Lake...very picturesque, one of the most photographed venues in western North America.
After the hike, on the ride back to the dock...we are seated beside 27 year old Thurston Howell the Seventh, his wife Barbie, and their two infant offspring The whole damn passel of them looked like they just stepped out of an LL Bean catalog. Turned up Lacostes, the whole nine yards.

"So how's it going...been here before?" I asked. He smiled a happy grunt. "What? Are you kidding?" (like...do you know whom  you're speaking with?) "We maintain a vacation home here".

"Oh, that's GREAT" I say. What do you do?

"Well. I'm an investment banker with Blah Blah and Blah. Our offices are in Manhattan, but I work from our home in Connecticut.
We summer in the Hamptons."

Twenty seven years old. Aloof bitch too, the little snot

That's what's wrong with this country. Little POS six months later was probably vacationing in Bali on taxpayer's bailout money.

Sucking the working man's money...so they can "help" us.
