As long as I can remember, every time I attempted to do something on my own it would result in having to hire a mechanically minded person to rectify both the original problem and the one I created.  Following a manual is just something I can't do.  However visual and live demonstrations I'll remember for life.  Strange how individual's minds work differently.

Once I have been shown what to do and have the confidence that what I am doing is correct, I would love to clean the carbs on my own.  Unfortunately, I don't know anyone who is willing to take the time to show me how to do it.

I have been calling around and found a very regular response:

3-4 hours of labor
$95 - $110 / hour
Parts are $30/piece - I need 6

boats.net sells the kit for $21/piece including tax and shipping.

My opinion, that is a very fair cost.
Out here on the West Coast it would be 150.00 per hour and up.
A couple of really good shops out here are quite a bit
 more.
Maybe I should start trailering my boat to FL for repairs? :D

Well, to be honest, I am heading out that way mid Nov.
I need to purchase a place or land for my retirement.
(less than 5 more years)!
I was going to book my ticket end of the month.
I was shooting for about the 17th Nov or so.
No sales tax?, where do they make it up?

Thanks Bryan

To close out this thread.....

Our friend Eugene called yesterday offering his mechanic that will teach me how to do it for the standard price of doing it himself:  $400+/-    I REALLY APPRECIATED THE CALL!

I did get a copy of the repair manual for my engine so I could get a better idea.  Here is a link to download it if anyone wants a copy of it https://dl.dropbox.com/u/693951/Repair%20Manual.pdf

I have yet to call Andrew or Ken for I don't want to waste their time.

Once I have the the parts in hand, I am going to learn how to do this come hell or high water.  Whether it be with Eugene's mechanic or the crazy neighbor of mine who owns Performance Outboards & Machine.
