Jose Gaspar's 250 CCP needs a re-wire...

Mark (Jose Gaspar here) had some SERIOUS battery issues with his 250 CCP, contacted me, we're going to do a complete re-wire on her.  Access isn't the best, as the pictures of inside the console I have taken are lying on my side or on my back.  So a few teak pieces are going to have to come off, but we'll manage.  Great looking boat, a ton of room, just time to bring the girl up to date, and get her electrical juices flowing properly!

Hey Bob....I didn't see this post and just started my own "Chapter Book" in the Engine and Electronics forum.  Thanks again for taking on the project.  Can't wait to see the end result.  I will say it again....thanks for taking on my project, I really appreciate it.

Going to get into tearing her apart tomorrow (I'll be gentile!).  First thing is going to be removing that "time bomb" of a battery!!

Bob, do be careful.  For those on the forum...best guess is that one of the battery plates dislodged and touched another plate within the battery causing a serious grounding issue which caused the fire on my 250CCP.  SeaBob4 can give you guys the details but a very dangerous situation involving a metric ton of "bad" amperage.

Good to see the batteries came out without issue.  Looks like things are on their way. Enjoyed the video and the commentary.  Sorry about your jumper wires, but I was glad to hear your assessment of the motor and it looks like we'll be able to replace a few components and wires and hopefully we will be back in business.

It may be more than that.  I'm getting continuity between the positive and negative even after separating the melted together wire bundles.  Could be in the starter motor, as that's where the main ground terminates to.  First things first, the boats electrical.  Then the motor.  BTW, the 2GA cables going back to the motor from the batt are in excellent shape.  Your bilge...OMG!!!

Did a little playing around, seems the starter motor is the culprit right now.  Got trim motor to work down, not up, but I'll figure that out tomorrow.  Dark, you know.  Sounded perfect too.

You guys, I just play with boats...

Tomorrow I'm supposed to get the remaining Smartcraft parts in for the Triton, then I can send her home.  Not too much time in dealing with her, so my full attention will turn to Mark's boat.  But really Mark, other than some minor melting, and therefore a bit of wire replacement, I think the motor is fine except for the starter motor and the start solenoid.  I'm reading open in the rest position, the circuit should be closed...

Out back taking Mark's boat a part.  Did my self a favor, removed the swing back cooler seat so nothing is in the way aft of the console.  E-Box is gutted, shortly will be the console.

Still waiting on theose damn parts to finish the Triton.  Great Lakes says they will be here today, since the owner paid UPS 2 day air...hmmm, 9 tonight?
