Question of the day 225 osprey ladder

Any suggestions for improving boarding ladder and a handle to pull yourself up?  I have a two step ladder that flips down from topside of deck.  I added an add a step.  Please advise. Thanks in advance for your help.

Yeah, the little 2rung swing down ladder my Osprey came with was a joke, pretty much had to have your knees up around your head before your feet could get in the lower rung.  I went with a telescoping 3 rung style from wind line.  Basically without going custom build, the best two choices are telescoping 3 or 4 rung, or the T-Bar style dive ladder, the t-bar is designed being open on the sides it's easier to get feet on the rungs with fins and dive gear on, probably more stable and solid than the telescoping ones.  Here are a few examples on Amazon, you could put a few of these handles anywhere they would be appropriate for where your hands want to grab?

Yeah my two rung was a joke too.  The top rung was out of the water and the bottom one was only 6" in the water!  Was almost impossible to get out of the water.  I had a telescoping three rung on my 200XF and that worked pretty good but the swim platform was lower to the water.  I have the Windline t-type dive ladder and I LOVE it.  Very stable.

Now the question that I'm surprised Bruce didn't ask, because he knows the answer...how the hell does one get back to the bolts?  Either going with a telescoping 3 or even 4 step like Marc, or with the removable dive ladder like Pete and Bruce, you're looking t/bolting everything.  Pete's was installed at the factory, no problem their as the mount was t/bolted to the hull before the boat was decked.  Soooo, Bruce knows the trick, cut a 3 3/8" hole in the side of the splashwell (will be covered by a 4" screw down pie plate) to access both the bolts on the old ladder and on the new, whichever style you decide to go with...

You must have put it there Bob   Assuming the small 2rung ladder was orig, and the access plate was very weathered, I replaced when I put the new ladder on, I would surmise that maybe the ladder didn't get installed before the cap went on, then they did what they had to to get it on, one of those "who knows" deals...

Well Marc, 15 years ago, I really do not remember who was in deck rig.  Wasn't me, though!

Truth be told, boat builders will run out of hardware that really needs to be installed before the boat is decked.  Bow rails, swim ladders, cleats, etc.  Usually from not paying bills.  But the production manager says F the hardware, schedule says full speed ahead!

And hence, some weird chit later on down the line...

My boat had a 4" pie plate already on the port side of the splashwell so the install was easy.
