When I see or read about going fast on the water, I always think about Donald Campbell, son of the renowned Sir Malcolm Campbell, he of Bluebird fame.  His goal was 300 MPH on water, he achieved a top speed of 320 MPH before is boat went airborne, unfortunately, killing him in the process...
