Any of the old timers

Anyone here remember Pioneer Marine on Eisenhower Blvd in Tampa. It was an Aquasport dealer back in the mid 70's along with Angler and Fiberfoam boats.

I actually worked there for a few months rigging boats. It was a gold mine until the owner ran it into the ground.

You probably know Pete then. If he owned it, it would still be in business.  He did ok with his boat top business however. Pete was top notch.

How about if we go back a little farther to Pioneer Tire company on the river (actually the tire company was on Tampa St and the boat part on the river)near Ashley and Cleveland. My dad bought our first Aquasport from there. A 22 ft osprey with a 90 HP Johnson.  That was all the HP we needed back then. The Franklins were the owners.  Knight and Wall Hardware was almost right across the street and Tony was the guy who ran the tackle department at Pioneer. The tire company and Marine split and the tire company moved to Cass St.  Fred Franklin still comes into the tackle store where I am manager. Guess that qualifies me as an old timer. I know Pete too and his company does great work. Pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Yes you are right. This was bought out and moved to Eisenhower Bl., along with the name change. Pioneer Tire was before me but I was told the story.
