67 - 22'2 Flatback Diver Rebuild

All photos are very appreciated. Not exactly the first pics, just the first in a long time. Still.....

It appears though that somewhere down the line, the diver door hanging mechanism has been removed and the thru hull holes patched.

One thru hole and support rod can be seen in this shot.


These appeared on the Forum back in 2006 and are buried in the Photo Gallery (taken at one of the Aqua gatherings).

It will be interesting on what you plan to do with this classic accessory (if anything) so post your pics.

That first pic with the bimini is interesting. Has the spray rails added, and is powered with a 90 3 cyl Yammie.

Those windows are bad to the bone.

It DOES look like that area has some type of plumbing. Hard to tell where it goes, etc...where the plastic circle is, there's solid glass below....

you could definitely tell my windows were in a livewell too. maybe they were trying to make the bait feel at home who knows haha.

There is a great article on here from the 1966 Rudder magazine about the early flatbacks and optional diver model.

But dagnabbit, now I can't find it. Betcha CB knows where to look

Anyhow...the diver option had the door, AND windows. The article stated that Coburn ran the boat onto a sand beach at a fast clip to prove the durability of the windows and their "secret" method of install

Article is broken up due to the scan but with a few clicks you can get the order.
Scott's memory of the "beaching" to prove window strength is correct and is found at the close.

I boxed out the lower hinges, the top holes were removed by the prev owner. I plan to replace the platform with a teak model and some custom hinges and stops. I wanted to remove the hardware from the interior of the boat and make it a little more efficent. I will post pictures of the progress with the door.

OS, will look forward to see if the remnants of the window frames etc. are there when you get the floor out.

I have the original paper work on my 69 and it seems the windows where an available option.
Mine had no windows

I hunt with different people every now and then. If you aking as in guided hunts no I dont. Most of the guys that do those are in the Okeechobee area and hunt off air boats. Thats not the type of hunting we do.

I have a group of guys I hunt with mainly but it really comes down to who gets tags in the lottery system. I did not get any this year but 2 good friends did. It also helps to assure your spot for the hunt when you are the guy with the boat and all the equipment.
