I researched the data sheets on the Honda marine website and talked to Tony. With the new @ weight of the boat around only 1800 lbs and Porta bracket we think top speed around 42-45 mph.

On page 3, on one of the photos of the transom bait station, where is met the existing transom cap, it looks like you faired it with a blue putty. What do you use to fair fiberglass before paint or gelcoat that is easy to fill and sand? it does not have to be structural as the work underneath is will be strong enough, but it has to be strong enough to hold up to typical surface use and marine conditions.

Koz, I'll ask about that.  I'm pretty sure it is an epoxy/filler mixture.  I picked up the boat from Abels Marine today.  I think they did a great job and worked well with me.  Towed her straight to SeaForce to finish painting and final touches.  Check it out and let me know what you think.

All the teak will be removed and refinished.  Tony at Abels put the Porta Bracket switch right next to the trim switch.  Looks good huh?

The gauges will be covered with Plexi

I can't wait to give her the maiden voyage.  This is my first Brand New Motor ever and pretty much a brand new boat!

It's late..
I am sitting here looking at the top of the bracket mount and wondering why does it extend all the way to the cap and why paint it black?!?!? :scratch:

Then I realize I am looking at the refection of the top plate of the bracket in the beautiful finnish of the transom :shock:  :oops: .. That is SOME paint job!!!

Alex, congrats, know you're excited :thumright:

Regarding mounting the leaning post...did they make any provisions in the build ...an underneath layer or imbedded layer of duralloy or other synthetic high density material that can be screwed to? How and what is the console mounted to?

If that was not in the build...you may need to through-bolt through the nida with large backing washers at a minimum and locknuts. Hopefully you can get to this area through the tank inspection deckplate.

It all depends on the width of your leaning post base. Does it fall within the confines of the tank hatch width, or does it go out a little farther and land on the stringer tops? If it does land on the stringers...you can screw through the nida  to the glass on the stringer tops on each end and 4200 the rest of the plate.  If it doesn't hit on top of the stringers and you can't get to it through the deck inspection...you may need to pull the tank hatch and install it while lifted. My deck is cored with nida, and though it is light and doesn't rot....the downside is it doesn't hold screws.


My rebuild has been a series of mini-adventures like this.
