after talking to my parents, they would like to keep the 200 osprey and get her running again and use her up on the river or on days they dont want to hassle with the sea ray and just want to go out for an hour or 2...  

here's the kicker: she wont be powered by an outboard! she'll be getting a rebuilt 170/190hp 3.7L I/O thats been sitting in our garage for going on 3 years. we have most of the parts laying around in the garage as it is. basically the only part i need to get is a transom assembly...

looks like i got 2 projects to work on now! :cheers:

That'll be a neat conversion!  I'd open up the cockpit sole to just forward the aft fuel tank b/head, give you as much room as you can get on the front end of the motor.  If you can cut out that b/head and move it forward a bit (closer to the tank), gives you that much more room for belt and WP sevicing...

we'll have to cut basically the whole aft bulkhead out as the motor has the mount on the front then glass in a block between the stringers. seen in this pic from our sea ray directly under the alternators:


one of the members on here out in cali has a 470 powered 19-6 FF, which got me thinking, a 470 powered osprey would be pretty cool, these motors are LIGHT for an i/o, ive heard of one guy who had a ford 460 big block aluminum head machined to work on the 470 for an all aluminum block. made around 215 hp with a 4brl carb but had crazy low-end torque like a diesel. since we have been running a pair of these since 04 we know them inside and out! :lol:

well nothing really to update on this boat, i did get a transom assembly today, and the motor is running! sounds SWEET!! im gonna swap my 4-barrel carb and intake on for a wee bit more power

the flatty is sitting with a new transom, thats it, got pretty sick right after we got back from tex, didnt have the energy to work on it. and my coworker has been on vacation so that killed my days. ill be back at it this week...

the osprey's transom is just about ready for new core. worked on it most of yesterday. having the remainder of the 50:1 mix gas pumped out tomorrow or thursday at work. got a half tank left in it :puker:
