By the way which non skid did you use? Did you apply it then paint over it?

The boat was painted one day and then non skid another day.  The non skid was mixed in with the paint, spread around and then rolled out evenly.

Thanks for the compliments guys.  The boat has come a long way.  Its been a long and drawn out process and a big investment with no end in sight right now.  In the end I hope to see all the hard work and money, make it well worth it.

That is really coming along great!  What is the dimension of the transom cap (front to back).  I'm planning mine right now and yours looks about perfect :thumright:

The transom cap is 22'' front to back.

The non skid came from a company called Fiberlay, the bottle says "200701006 QT SKIDTEX".  The guy who helped me do the non skid said the trick is in what size mat roller you use.  Most instructions call for 1/4'' mat, but he said the 3/8'' mat works the best.  The 3/8'' allows the non skid to be laid down and spread evenly, due to the mat being able to pick back up excess etc..  The 1/4'' supposedly wont do that and you will have some areas with more non skid than others.  We just mixed the non skid in the paint and then poured into a paint tray and rolled on.  HTH

Having some issues reinstalling the front deck hatch hinges.  I'm using the same style that was original, I think they are just a little bit heavier duty.  The issue is the hinge part that screws into the hatch itself, the inner screw if I try to through bolt it, the nut hits the inner lip of the hatch opening when put down.  When only using a small screw that just grabs the glass, just doesnt seem strong enough.  I tried a few different things, but now I'm at a lost besides starting to grind down certain areas.

Can anyone that has reused their old front decks and hatches, shed some light on this?

I'm not 100% sure I understand the issue without pics, but it sounds like something like this may work?

Happy Birthday :thumright:  :thumright:

They originally had thin flat square "nuts". Real thin stainless. We used through bolts, but in the area you mention, screws with 5200.

This was a design flaw. My originals on my '73 22-2 did it and the replacements made from those originals did it. You can dremel a small amount of clearance in the lip for the nuts or modify (grind) the nuts to clear. A longer reach hinge would have solved the problem.
