Looks exactly like my boat boat right now.I have 1976 though and we are at about the same progress everything is identical. When you put your new deck in do you raise the 3 drains in the back or will you leave them where they are?

Havent gotten that far, but I'm assuming all the drains will be moved due to a new transom, possible different floor height etc...

A few more pics from last couple of days.

Foam being added for more flotation and a smoother/quieter ride.  All the side areas with foam will be glassed over, 4 in total.  In the picture the process was just started and the foam was still be added and expanding.

What great progress! :salut:  :salut:

Are you going to mount your batteries below deck forward of the console? With all that space up forward that'd be a good way to keep the console clear?..

Batteries will probably go inside the console towards the stern.  Not much else would go there anyway.  The space upfront is for a larger fuel tank hopefully and a fresh water tank.  Still trying to figure that out now.  If anyone has any insight into the fuel tank and water tanks that would be great.

If my formula/calculation was correct the stock tank is approx 60 gals.  I would really like to have atleast 15-20 more gallons, so another 15-18 inches will have to be added to the tank length and then try to squeeze a water tank forward of that in the space thats left.  Again, I'm still trying to see what will work.

One thing I learned the hard way is that you can never have too many or too large of wiring runs :) highly recommend two big ones going aft and one big one going forward.

You are really looking good!

Checking fitment of new 70 gal fuel tank.  Next will be a floor for the tank and a wall in front of to separate it from the water tank, amongst many other things

Pads on the hull sides and floor are for the pumps, bilge, freshwater, and raw water.  Just so they are not mounted directly into the hull sides which really don't have enough material there to secure them.

Good idea - coming along nicely.
What was the reasoning behind glassing in the foamed areas?  I've got my 170 down to the stringers and am rationalizing foam vs no foam.

For me, no real reason.  The shop helping me added the foam and glassed over.  Obviously the foam will give the boat more flotation in an emergency, but besides that I don't think anything else.  And as far as glassing over the foam, I would imagine you can't leave exposed foam or before you know it the new foam will be like all the old crap I pulled out.  Glassing over should also help when the floor goes in.

I totally understand the foam - I refoamed the cavities of my 170 14 years ago and it was still dry when I pulled the floor the other week. I was more curious of the glassing over part. Typically you glass both sides of the floor material and then lay it/secure it over the foam. Sometimes you cut holes in the flooring and pour the foam through the holes and watch it come up through the exhaust holes (like you did your stringers). If you don't have a way for water to get into your bilge, the foam should remain dry (that's the plan anyway   )
I have seen someone glass over the foam but wondered why.
