I sand Blasted the inside of this boat to begin with, Because I am not cool with all the grinding.

Here is the boat with sand Blasted inside and stringers have foam that i sprayed in them today. I have to cut the foam to make it straight. It is a little bubblie right now. Foam is very easy to saw straight.

   And I still have to cut out the fiberglass that was part of the inboard mount. Now that it is clean inside it will be easy.

Did you want a picture like this one? The transom is about 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch thick.

Yep, that's it. Was thinking about how you plan on configuring the transom, bracket, coring, knees etc.

I am up in the air about the knees. I am not sure about connecting the knees to the back of those stringers. I am thinking about making about a foot of the stringer solid in the back. Instead of foam filled. That way the knees are solid to the floor. Then I figured that I could just attach the knees to the existing stringers. I am not sure about that yet. If you have an idea for that I would like to hear it.

     On the transom, when I decide what coring to use I am going to come around the corners with fiberglass to make it stronger. What type of coring is most used for support of a transom? It has been so long since I have bought anything for fiberglass i am sure they have some new lighter, faster, stonger stuff.

     I am also going to put some bulkheads in for my fuel tank and fresh water was down and a few extras for added support.

Coosa bluewater 26 is the top of the line transom material. Go with either 11/2inch or 2 inch if you can find it
Use your trimmings from the 4X8 sheet to build your knees,
My Knee's are part of my stringers, they run all the way up the transom to support the transom cap.
If your going with a porta bracket that transom needs to be crazy strong as setting a motor so far back puts lots of torque on it.

      I am going to finally pull the chop gun out of the spider webs. It should be all set up and ready to go by this weekend. Then I will have to order materials. Go to figure out how much I think I am going to need.

Robbie, looks as if the sandblaster in educated hands cut your interior grinding work by 70%. Excellent tip for future rebuilders.

It would be interesting to know what type/how big the compressor is, what gun setup and what type of media was used because the results are MOST impressive..

   The equipment used is industrial grade. That is what we do for a living. Also I had one of our skilled people blast it for me. I don't blast anymore.   :tongue:  :tongue:

    The equipment sizes are: 375cfm compressor which is a rather large compressor. The media is size 20/30 silica sand. And the nozzle is a #6.

    Just incase anyone had the idea of blasting the outside of the hull, I would not do that it will make more work for you than you already have. The only reason I did the inside is because it was very nasty. The sand will take the dirt and wet fiberglass out of the boat. The only down fall is that it is very uneven. But that doesn't bother me because I will be using a chopper gun to spray my stringers and such. The spots that I don't need chop I will spray a thin coat of resin to reseal the glass. I am also thinking about spraying a coat of gel coat just to help protect the hull from the inside out. I want this boat to last a long time. Also you never know when it is done someone might offer enough money to buy it. Either way I want it to last.

Ohh and those green patches in the hull are not from me. Someone else started this project and didn't finish.

Definitely gel beneath the deck, especially where it can be seen
