Trying to price 3 carbs (see pics)
« on: July 23, 2012, 07:20:47 PM »
I recently re-powered and have 3 carbs left over from the 200 hp Yamaha v6 that I had before.  I have no idea how to price them on eBay - any idea what they might be worth (if anything at all)?

Any help is appreciated!

To a guy that needs them they are worth a bunch!   Not sure what the fair market price would be on them.  Try doing a search on the carb model numbers and see what you come up with.  I'm sure there are some Yammie online forums too.

Hey Wingtime, thanks for the response.
I just looked at the carbs again and there is no model number on them.  I know they are OEM Teikei carbs for the v6 220 model.  I even have a pic of the old motor.  Do you think thats enough info?

I just joined and posted on a yamaha forum... hoping for good info.

I got 3 carbs for a 225 V6 Exell 1989 sitting under my work bench, probably same carbs.
I believe in pre 89 they where rated at 220 hp, 2.6 liter block, same displacement block as the 200 hp.
Only difference was carbs , compression ratio, and cdi. At least that is what Yamaha mechs told me
The carbs might be a hard sell, only so many of these engines left out there, and besides that, vintage Yamaha before SW series had bad corrosion issues. I rebuilt mine once, by the 2nd time it blew corrosion had taken its toll.
Yamaha didn't make that combo for very long, in 1990  I think they came out with the 3.0 liter block in the 225.

Anyways good luck  :D

I bought one this spring on Ebay for $175.  It was listed as coming from a 98 200 Yamaha (middle) but it appears to be identical to the one I effed up which is on a 96 200 Yamaha Saltwater Series.  New on the Yamaha parts site is like 400 bucks.

Thanks for the replies guys.  I guess I will take a chance and list them on eBay when I can list for free... hopefully get a couple hundred bucks for them.  They look like they are in good shape.

If it help you decide whether to sell them as a set or individually, I bought the one off ebay because I had a screw tip busted off in the carb body with no way to get it out.  It was the middle carb which is set up a certain way and I had no desire to take an upper or lower and make it a middle, not even sure if you can do that.  Anyways, I poked around on ebay and quickly found the exact carb I was looking for.  Like I said it was $175 (buy it now, which I did).  It might make more sense to sell them seperately for the above reason instead of as a set.  Just something to think about.  Either way, think of it as gas money!Dan
