Panhandle trip 2
« on: July 21, 2012, 12:17:41 AM »
Man, why is it everytime we decide to take the time to actually take some time and make the effort to go somewhere and fish in some real water it freakin pours rain? The last four days we have faithfully gotten up at 5 and turn the computer on and look at the radar and holy moly! Go back to bed. At least I took Hunter offshore on Monday and he got to catch some fish. Monday was the only day in the last 6 that it did not rain and storm and lightning like crazy. We never even took our boat out as these storms would just pop up and become huge and a whole crap load of rain in about 30 minutes and then it would do it again. We did get to see the Blue Angels fly last Friday for the dress rehearsal, which was really cool. But when we get everything ready to go on Saturday morning I ride over and help Flounderpounder put his 245 in and on the ride to the end of his street to anchor up and pick up his family, we make a detour out into Pensacola bay and I realize I should not even bother putting my boat in because its blowin about 15 knots and there are more storms poppin up everywhere and the bay is already up to solid 2 to 3s. Idiot people were actually trying to run into that mess with 10 people on their pontoons! The waves were big enough that when the pontoon would go over the crest you could see way up under the deck! Any way we are back and here are some pics. Internet has been intermittent the past few days.

Storm last Friday, the prelude of many to come.

Crazy weather this summer Lew.
Several days it's just what you would expect then Wham.

Even when it doesn't rain, the wind howls.

Yeah, the weather was defineitely not on your side this past week.  It was great seeing you, Bridgett and Hunter again.  Too bad we didn't get out for some fishing, and the weather on the day of the Blue Angels Beach show was typical of the whole week.  Anyway, here are a few Pics,

We went all summer without rain.  I had a pretty good tomato crop going until my water bill jumped from $20 to $98 and I said screw the tomatoes.  Now that the plants are burned up we get 10 straight days of rain and an entire year's worth of lightning.  Don't mess with mother nature.

Glad y'all are back safely Lew.

Lew and Marc,

thanks for the photos...  :(     .... man do I miss Florida.

Warm water
Summer squall lines
dockside watering holes
cold beer on hot days
flip flops and surf baggies
sandy beaches
rafted boat parties
thunder & lightning !
stud sport fish
Southern hospitality

I could go on and on, but you get the message.  Patience, patience, patience....
