The deck at the transom (factory) is a waste of space. First thing to change  IMHO. This will also aid with your entry concerns.

Glad you've joined. It is apparent that you have a good understanding of boats...good deal.

Also glad that you like the twins.

Welcome... thanks, and keep us posted :thumright:

Very nice  :salut:
Seems to be in good shape and definitely a rare model.
The twins will always be in your way when trying to get back into the boat.  Not sure what to rig up to make it easier   You have a finite amount of room between the corner and the engine and still allow the engine to function properly in a turn.
Congrats.

Well, she was delivered late last night in the rain.  Preliminary report is that the deck is amazingly still rock solid.  Now I'm just praying to get lucky with foam/stringers, fuel tank and/or electrical/cabling.  Lower units are admittedly pretty gross though.  Won't be a fun cleanup project.

Yeah, the ebay ad indicated at least one was leaking (slowly lowering the engine), but I have a complete working replacement at home with new solenoid as well as the correct size spanner wrench to take off the cylinder caps and replace the seals if necessary (just replaced the seals in the T/T on my wellcraft this year).  The o-ring sets are actually pretty darn cheap.  I guess I figure at the very least I can make two working units out of the three I'll have without needing to buy a ton of expensive or obsolete parts.  Sure woulda been nice of the PO to raise the engines and lever-lock them though when she was sitting in the water.

Sure is a pretty sight isn't she - truly a rare bird.  Just need a little TLC.
Congrats.

Must be good to have her home - looks good for a start - not too much obvious stuff there.

That thing is sweet. Slap some Suzuki DF140s on that baby and it would be a little fuel miser even with twins. If you ever decided to do some modifications, you could eliminate the splashwell completely so any water would flow right out the transom like on a Calcutta catamaran. I would hate to start messing with such an unmolested original though.

That was my thinking, the splashwell seems lengthy off the engines/intrusive to the cockpit.

To the extent that it isn't structural....shouldn't be much to it. But that can come, or not, anytime.

Damn good looking boat.  And as Rick says, great to have a new "bird" flying around the house

Run those 140 Johnsons. You're an OMC guy, and they aren't costing you a nickel. If they burn some extra fuel, so be it.

Takes a lot of gas on a daily basis to justify the price of new four strokes. Besides...the smell of twin two strokes at 5 am....Priceless

Sweet ride, first one like it I have ever seen
You got a deal even if its just for the hull, Its not only how much gas the motors burn its the fact you want to enjoy your boating and with two old motors like that there will pretty much always be a problem with at least one. If you want to use the boat to its ability you will need some new power. Those old OMC's are good for killing mosquitoes if they start though.
Good luck with your new boat

Appreciate the compliments - It's going to be a LONG time before I can afford to repower her (wedding bills, student loans, new homeowner, no raises in the foreseeable future, etc.  :pale: ), but in the meantime I get a pair of generally very reliable engines that I already know how to completely rebuild, won't have to pay experts to repair, and can often even fix on the water in a pinch if anything goes wrong.  Still can't get over the condition of this thing after 33 years...

Here's some more p0rn...
