Outboard trim
« on: July 03, 2012, 09:53:45 AM »
I have a 200 Evinrude Oceanpro on my 21.5 Explorer Aqua.  The other day, while cleaning the boat, I raised the motor with the trim button and now it is stuck in the upward position.  I can hear it whirl, but it does not move up or down and it seems to get stuck.  The only way to make the whiring stop is to switch off the battery.  I'm not mechanically oriented but there a quick fix, I can handle that.  If not, here we go $$$$$.
Help!!! and Thanks, :pale:

Stuck trim switch or stuck "up" relay. Find the black 1" X 1" X 1" cubes under the cowling and unplug them and switch them and try again. If the engine only trims down then you have your answer for the relay. For the trim switch, unplug the switch from the harness and test for continuity with a volt /ohms meter and see if the switch is stuck closed.

Hey Loco,

I'm just up the road from you in Palm Coast. What was the fix?
