1988 222 ccp Gas tank questions
« on: July 02, 2012, 07:51:08 PM »
New rebuild beginning.  Received stripped boat that had previously been worked on to redo by others

New fuel tank supplied with purchase is a moeller 59 gallon.  Is this the correct size for this boat.  It seems to have room to installa larger tank.  Also which way does the tank go into the well? output, guage, and infill  pipe to forward or to the rear thus with the vent overflow to rear?

Pictures on gallery.

I think it originally was 85 gallons.

Is 59 enough for your needs?

22 foot CCPs came with 85 gallon tanks, with an optional extra 32 gallons in a front tank.  You can get a new, custom-made 85 gallon tank that will hook up with all the original fittings, have the fuel gauge sender in the right place, etc. for about $650.

Good information.

59 gallons is probably enough for my normal needs in coastal ocean fishing, although it would be better to have the extra capacity for extended day trips.

How about the tank orientation?  Does the fill inlet, output to motor and fuel sending unit go to the front or rear?  If there is a thread that shows a picture that would be great.

Also another question:  At the splash well area, where does the battery switch and back fuse box or junction box go with the open cccp.  I have seen pics of other aquaspsorts that have this inside some protected cavity at the rear, or on smaller boats out in the open on the transom.  Is there a specific brand of waterproof junction box that I can use in that open environment.  If any body has a pic that would be great too.
