Your 230 and the 225 Explorer post '94 should be basically the same.  Scott to the red phone...

Ok, Ok, you are all right.  Based on the HIN shown, it is a 1992.  I don't know how I got it in my head that it was a 1998?  The registration, title, etc. all show it is a 1992.  Duh!  Thanks for the pictures of other boats similar to mine.  It's nice to see how they are set up.  I'm still looking for the maximum capacity information.  Thanks for the Max Capacity link louieFL.  I'll give them a call and see if they have any left.  Looks like a great place to find parts.  I could use some new hatches on the battery and oil tank compartments in the back of the boat.

Thanks for straightening me out.

Looks like you and I are the only members with the 230 Exp model, that I can remember anyway.  :salut:
Yours is set up for fishing or touring (all those seats would be perfect for taking a tour), mine is set up for camping and lounging.

A little light reading about her transformation

Just a thought 'cause...
It's been known to happen on occasion with several members of this Forum.

It's hard to make out in your photos but you may have the "old school" type. Notice in Rick's photo that his hatch covers appear more traditional. I had the old style on my 91 and replaced them with a newer design. It takes something away from the "retro" look but they work a damn sight better at keeping the water out.

Well that is indeed an Aquasport hawkeye but....

The pic was from the PO who lived in Seminole where I purchased the boat. Fearless Leader spotted it too when I first posted the pic over two years ago. Still, this old pic shows the old hatches the best.

I don't know that the background Aqua owner is a member but the PO I purchased from had no idea about our little group. Just to thicken the Aqua pot, there was yet another 170 at the end of this block.
They were like ticks on a hound.

OK,
So I'm post whoring.....still I feel compelled to mention this.

If you go back three posts you'll see the pics I inserted into this thread. The second, labeled "new style" is special to me.

Not just because it keeps the water out of the stern hatches but also because both the blue wash down hose and the hatch "deal" came about through members of this Forum and for that I thank you. :thumright:

Were the hatches an exact replacement?
Where'd you purchase them?

No, they were too long (tall in this application ) and not wide enough to fit the factory opening. I had to trim the opening along top and bottom and rounded it up. The factory cut was odd shaped. (I can't find the original pics of installation). I used the trim pieces I removed to fill in the sides and mount.

The hatches are made by Beckson and were a close out. Originally, a member (Woody) posted the link. :thumleft:

The action is stiff and squeaky but they lock down well and they keep the water out.

Last hatch at bottom of page.
