Capacity info on 1984 Aquasport Osprey 196

Hey guys,

New to the site, and I have been digging around online a bit and through this site, and have come up with some pretty close information to what I am looking for, but not quite it.

I recently bought a 1984 Aquasport Osprey 196 and am looking for the capacity information because there is no plate on it. Any information would be greatly appreciated (Weight, Persons, Weight w/ Gear, Max Motor HP).

The closest thing I have found is this: "If you have the 20" transom your capacity is 1560lbs, if 25" then it goes to 1950lbs" on another forum.

At Marine Connection Liquidators in Ft Pierce, FL, I went through all their boxes of Coast Guard Capacity labels and found two for Aquasport boats:

205 Aquasport Osprey: 8 persons or 1,200 lbs; 2,200 lbs persons / motor / gear; 225 HP max
230 Aquasport Coastal: 8 persons or 1,200 lbs; 3,500 lbs pesons / motor / gear; 350 HP max

They had probably 25 of each label.

I'm not sure how the 196 and the 205 differ, but I wouldn't exceed the 205 specs. Can't answer your question directly, though...

These numbers might be closer to what yours originally were. This plate is on skoot's 1975 19-6.
