Who invented the first center console?

While browsing google for aquasport stuff I came upon this year 2000 post on contiuous wave.http://continuouswave.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000313.html
I know that some guys here have whalers too but I am certain that it was neither of the two companys who invented the center console.  Most likely the center console was just a relocation of the side console on numerous crabbing vessels.  I don't think that we will ever know for sure but I think that     Aquasport was the pioneer of the center console layout.  The raised casting deck,  the console with the gas tank and storage underneath,  the seat in front, and the general uncluteredness of the boat were all part of what made Aquasport great.

The center console was probably, like other improvements made over the years, not really an invention as much as an evolution.  Aquasport was one of the earliest if not the first to mass produce the CC layout.

The originators of the Center Console was Boston Whaler. When the introduction of CC's were used in Boston Whalers, their later models formed to teh Montauk that is still used today.

Was just on the Aquasport website and this blurb caught my eye.....
