1998 215E Volvo Penta Outdrive slowly falls down
« on: June 20, 2012, 01:36:11 PM »
My 1998 AquaSport 215E Volvo Penta Outdrive slowly falls down and I'm concerned that it's the beginning of something bad.
I replaced the outdrive pump last year and since only used the boat 10 times. When stored in the backyard the drive is always left down. Is there something I'm missing?

any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Time to look at seals on the trim rams.  At that age, I'd be looking at ram condition as well...pitting, scoring, anything that could compromise the seals as the rams move in and out...

Looks like OMC makes some seals that might work for the rams, as Bob said the rams could be pitted and causing the seals to leak, any good hydraulic shop in your town should be able to rebuild them probably interesting thread over on iboats

Had this problem recently on a Volvo Penta out drive on an Albemarle. The trim cylinders had to be replaced, should solve the problem.
