Traditional style Aquasport consoles - Only on a diet

For those who really like the original style Aquasport console, but hate how bloody wide they are, this is your huckleberry. These are original style consoles, only 11 inches narrower than factory. They remain 38" tall and 40" long, but are only 30" wide rather than 41". Additionally, the front flip up door assembly that always rips off the hinges has been glassed in. You simply install a prefab hatch either on the forward seat, on the backrest, or both. It's pretty amazing how much roomier the cockpit feels that big old console loses a few inches off the waistline.

I'm redoing my 1975 Aquasport 222 and was wondering all along if it was the original helm/console. I started to glass in all the holes. It's like a side project that I've been concerned about. I don't have a picture, but its a standard console, but the front seat and back come off together, like a fiberglass L. So these originals are prone to coming apart at the hinges (Good to know and explains why mine was wripped of the hinges).... I don't want to spend a bunch of time reglassing and making this console pretty so it just rips apart. I could glass the seat together too, but smaller is appealing. I do like the idea of installing hatches as opposed to removing the door, it did seem a bit misfit, although I liked the room to see. Ill contact you all for pricing with shipping to North Carolina. I'm working nights this evening. .... Oh what about the windsheild, do you sell those for the smaller consoles? Mine is totally broke, and apparently it wouldn't fit anyway. No Biggy, just curious. Needing livewell, all controls, guages, so if you have more you all use on your rebuilds for sale, let me know via PM or when I call. Thanks

Eugene, good to see you!  And the console looks excellent!!  I would assume it has coring in all the right places for mounting hardware and securing rigging.  What is your "concept" for the aft face where that old, cracked-to-hell vacu-formed insert went?

Eugene should get together with the boys at boathelpshop.com for new inserts made out of starboard.  Actually I should go talk to them about making replacements for the standard consoles that seem to fall apart.

That would be a toughie to duplicate out of starboard, Bruce.  There are quite a few "details" to that thing that would be tough to replicate without a mold...lots of small pieces of starboard screwed together.  However, a simplified version would certainly work...

i believe Eugene still offers the console its about the same size as the newer genmar built 175 and 200 osprey console... i forget how much he wanted for one...

i ordered my console from panga marine... im happy with it and is a very small footprint which gives quite a bit more deck space and most importantly fit perfect withing my tower mounting pads... <!-- m -->http://www.boatconsolesandbaitwells.com/index.html<!-- m -->

Hmmm.  I got the impression from Eugene that the only console he still made was a very narrow (22" ?) 2-piece console.  Looked nice, but not exactly what I was looking for.  I actually just ordered the same console Aaron has.
