New owner, old Osprey 200, beginners questions

I was just given a 1986 Osprey with 2003 Suzuki 115 (less than 25 hours) and trailer and had my son drag it from Portland, Maine to Point Roberts, WA. It looks to be in decent shape with the usual dings, gelcoat cracks and cracked ice cooler seat. The first stab at cleaning made it a heck of a lot brighter. More to go, obviously. The boat sat covered in my sister-in-law's backyard since 2006 and she got tired of looking at it. The tires made it 20 miles towards a trailer mechanic before one of them blew. A lot of work later, the boat was on its way. As you can see, the boat is no longer free what with trailer repairs and the gas bill for my truck being bigger than it should have because my son somehow figured the way to Portland from Washington required him to see his college friends in L.A.
The motor was started last fall – I haven't turned it over because, 1., there is no battery and 2., I wanted to have it looked over by my boat mechanic. There does not appear to be any softness at all on the decks; in fact, it's mostly cosmetic stuff I see that needs fixing. I haven't taken the bilge plug out yet but I was told by my ex-brother-in-law that the plug itself was frozen and that I would need to unscrew the plug and fitting. So I haven't stuck my finger up to see what condition it's in. I'm still in good with my ex-brother-in-law so I don't think he would steer me wrong just because I'm still married into the same family (we used to commiserate together). My sister-in-law did tell me something about the hose being in bad shape but that was the full extent of her knowledge. We'll find that out after the mechanic takes a look at it.
I'll probably have to replace the gas line seeing as it dates at least to 2003 and probably 1986 - before E15 gas (we're E10 out here) and wouldn't be up to snuff. The water pump impeller would need replacing as well. After this long-winded intro, here is my question:
What are the sorts of issues I should be looking into given that the boat has sat so long, it's an Aquasport and any other conditions I don't know about? I've been reading a lot of the posts and have learned a lot – I just haven't seen this particular issue raised. Thanks for any and all suggestions.

Wow...Maine to Washington state via LA...and the fuel bill was???
Congrats! The Zuke is an excellent motor! Now get her really cleaned up and you'll be able to see a lot more of what you've got. Of course post pics, and throw a batt in there and see what works, what doesn't. Assuming the batt was simply pulled and no dumbass went in wired everything backwards, what works will work and what doesn't won't...
Look forward to the progress!
And before any one else gets to it...

Welcome aboard! I think you are going to have to approach this based on ANY boat that has been sitting for some time... not just an Aquasport. The number one item is the fuel system. This includes the fuel tank (is it clean? dirty? leaking?water in it?), the fuel itself (get rid of all of it), fuel filters, and as you mentioned the fuel lines. The steering needs to be checked and serviced., The outboard needs a full service including Carbs (if not fuel injected), water pump, thermostats, lower unit lube, pull the prop and grease the pivot points and prop shaft. As for the boat itself I think your on the right track. Get the garlock drain open or replace it... don't forget to seal it and the screws with 5200 if you replace it. This is just a start but it is what you are going to have to do regardless of the make of the boat or motor.

these are sharp looking boats, trust me i have one
as stated above i would pull off the coffin and give the tank a good once over.. i would be surprised if it was the original tank and was in good condition.. but who knows how this boat was mostly spent..

Thanks. Good suggestions already. I don't believe the fuel tank was replaced but I will confirm. The photos I'm now going to attempt to link show it as it arrived. If I ever go on a road trip I think I'll tape saran wrap to the windshield. Eight years of grime comes off much easier than bugs.
My first swing at cleaning has already made a huge difference. All those discolorations you see on the front platform are gone with the exception of rust stains. Even the seat cushions cleaned up nicely. Someone suggested using Clorox cleaner on the rub rails - it works really well. Four days later, the smell of chlorine has left my hands. Note to self: buy some latex gloves.
I down sampled the photos quite a bit but they still get the idea across.
Again, thanks for the suggestions and I'll continue to let members know of my progress.

Moving right along Bob.
Also,
When you get a chance, post a little background on yourself over on the Introduction thread (top one) in the Discussion forum. Keep this one open for your progress and questions.
Good luck.

Welcome aboard!
Before anything else....pull the drain plug at the base of the transom.
Cock the trailer up at the bow, angle her to the rear, and de-mung your ride.

I've posted two photos of the transom showing cracks in the gelcoat. There are no corresponding cracks on the inside of the transom. What are people's opinions on these? I still haven't taken the drain plug fitting off - the drain plug is out and water is slowly seeping out. I'll do that next and see how it feels inside.
Good news – the gas tank was pretty much empty so I filled her up – anyone know the capacity? I thought I saw 40 gallons somewhere but the place I filled it up at shows liters (lots of Canadians come down to fill up) and it only took 88 liters or about 20 gallons if memory serves me right.
Anyway, after taking two old rat or mouse nests out from inside the housing, I turned the key and the engine started right up. I had thought I would need to replace the gas lines but my mechanic said no. Thoughts?
Here are the transom shots. Thanks for any or all advice.

Upper right corner.

Try and get the bow up as high as you can (or park it on a slope) and take a stick (pencil) and place it in the drain hole to clear any foam bits that may be blocking the hole.
Good luck.
