Your shift/throttle lever should have a friction adjust screw on it and all you may need is a little adjustment, which control do you have?

Dave's right.

Model motor would help. Pics even better but....

Here is a start. 1998 exploded view of a control for 90 hp motor. Shooting blanks in the dark.

I'm sure if you can provide a little more info, someone here can point you in the right direction.

Remove the cover, you'll see a slotted set screw on the top aft side.  Tighten that up, might need a good amount of tightening.  This syndrome is called "throttle creep"...

hanging a left here..
 :thumright:

Is there any way that links like these could be labled and put in the resource forum?  A few nights ago I spent quite awhile searching for a PDF of the 2002 Yamaha rigging guide and came up with not much.. Must have not used the right criteria. This stuff would be close to priceless if consolidated in one spot..

I'm assuming you searched this Forum.

The links I provided are from a Google search of the Internet but in either case...

I'll be happy to post them but as Rick stated, links like these, leading to another Forum often change or worst, lead to the Forum which then leads to a dead link that has not been removed.

I just attacked the question as if I were searching for myself.

First looked for 1998 Yamaha controls, assumed a 90hp motor (170s will run with a 90) and posted the exploded view. With the additional info (model 704) locating the manual became easier. Luck really, as you indicated in search criteria. As much as we all want to believe, the Internet doesn't hold all the treasures of the Universe.

Was this what you were looking for?

What Bob said is unfortunately true.  How many times have you clicked on a link only to get the 404 error message?

Now, here's an idea.  Bob, Rick, how about allowing PDFs to be attached to posts or threads?  Easy to do, and the PDFs don't go away...

For instance, the Teleflex Seastar install manual is a great resource, a ton of owners here have Seastar, yet I can't attach the PDF of the manual as the PDF extension is not allowed.

How about allowing it? :thumright:

That's a great idea because that install manual has been well used by me.

Printed it at work awhile back cause I can never remember the correct way to bleed the same system I've had since 96.
Beyond my powers though.

As an aside though for members, any search can be frustrating though I understand Google is getting a better handle on it. It does get easier if you tend to use it more for specifics like say, boating, guns or autos etc. Sometimes it takes some weird combination of keywords but mostly just luck.  If that rigging manual is what Dave was searching for, I found it fairly quickly but I fiddled with the criteria a couple of times. If not, well there you go.

As I always say, first one's free but then you always get what you pay for.

1 meg will cover a lot.  I just looked through my saved pdf files concerning boats and most were under that.

Way to go Rick!!!

Let me try to upload the Seastar manual...

Nope, file to big.  Let me see what I have mine set at...

Rick, mine's set at 5 megabytes, seems to do the trick for all but really large files, like service manuals...
