87 222 console picture

One can see the 6 holes for the old switches, fuses over switches, they are all junk now, they were anything but waterproof and in almost 20 years they rusted away, I pulled all of them and am awaiting a new 6-position waterproof touch pad from BEP marine, I'll just Sawzall the rectangle I need to install the panel/pad, wire everything up and we'll be good to go for another 20 years.  I'm going to spend the free time I've got next and take apart the wiring loom the factory wound together, they took all the wires that you can see dangling and just spun them all together, I'll take them apart and tape/identify them so when the panel comes in I'll know what is what.

I took the console door off but I forgot to get a picture of it, it is still in great shape save for the lower left hand corner that came apart from my brothers just slamming the battery in and out so I glued it together for now and will put in a corner brace or just put more holes and through-bolt it to the console.  You can see at the top where the two top holes came free and the fiberglass is gone, the other two holes I made for some strapping to hold the electronics tray  I had in there.  When I put the frame back in I am going to at the very least double the number of holes in the frame to give it more strength.

Difficult to see is the Attwood cockpit light on the lower left, anyone know where to get the Attwood bayonet's/replacement sockets for those lights?

Looks good!  Those Attwood bulbs have got to be fairly common.  Radio Shack or maybe West Marine might have them.

It isn't so much the bulb as I need the whole socket for the unit, the originals rusted/corroded away many moons ago and I replaced them with cheap-o units from West Marine that I had to duct-tape in place, I checked the Boaters World and the West catalog and no mention of original Attwood sockets for the lamps, perhaps I'll have to duct tape again.

Hearing from all on this site makes me feel quite grateful for all that this 87 is.  I'm going to reinforce the frame that goes around the opening as well as reinforce the tray that goes on the frame so it can hold the new JBL stereo, with wired remote I might add, so I can have some righteous tunes again this boating season.  I had a Standard tape am/fm player in there from 1998, this was before CD burners had even come out yet and marine CD players were way up there in price but now that I can burn till my hearts content, I have to go CD now and I've already got 6" speakers in the sides of the console and it sounds great as the inside of the console makes for good bass for what it is.
