87 222 Hull Picture, on trailer
« on: April 05, 2006, 10:20:41 AM »

Here is the portside shot of the girl.  Notice the scratches going down the side of the hull just behind the 222 decals and the worn "sp" from the rear logo, I think the rear bumper we had rubbed the big AS decal off and the scratches were from the corner dock braces that were not covered up by a corner bumper so the exposed metal would rip the side when the pilot would make a "crooked landing" on the dock.

How about that bottom paint?  Who taped the line for that?, our 6 year old neice?  As this was the before shot, I took the time to make it right so now the line is even as it is only cosmetic anyway and I'm not TOO anal about it, but I still made it right.  If I remember over the years, the console rail would have a bit of play in it and when running the rough seas it would contact the windshield and crack it, then the crack would run and eventually the plastic/lexan would snap off, there is still enough left and it gives it the "custom-look" that we all so desperately crave, it reminds me of the Hanson Brothers in Slap Shot, they are bashing in the side of their bus with sledgehammers when Paul Newman comes up to them, very nonchalantly and asks, "Hey guys, whatcha' doin'?"  and one of the brothers looks up and says, "Were makin' it look mean."  That is what it is, it looks "mean."  Thankfully one of the guys on here gave me a lead on the windshield place in Fl to possibly get a new one.

One can also see the windshield which is gone in two places for some odd reason.

When I had my brakelights/license plate on the top of my guides, the license plate used to carve a nice gouge into the hull down the side whenever I was putting her back on the trailer.
Now I carry a lightbar that I fabricated and has the rear strap built in.  It comes off before launch and goes back on after retrieval. No more gouging and no more ground problems.

I think what was happening over the years is the rearward part of the boat sits against the dock and the water splashes up against the boat leaving a film/slime as the saltwater pond is loaded with marine life so every year we see the staining, whereas the forward part of the boat gets no splashing, hence no slime, therefore, no paint.  I evened it out this season though and it looks much better, this is the second season I went with the red, I'll probably go with the blue as I had for all time next season and forevermore.
