OK will do
I got a nice 38 lb yellowfin
I ate most of it I think :D

Anything wrong with that?  Have a buddy that lives over there, within 10 minutes of launch he's in 3000+ feet of water...

Actually, an average catch for them...

Yeah, real nice
Whenever I go I think I get the runt of the litter
Still tasted great though
I went to the BD site and the first post was the guy with the Mercs editing to say they sold!
Oh well, I will keep looking

My cousin rebuilt a 25 Mako, went through 2 SETS of FICHTS, and 3 powerheads. 2 Fires, one stranded him 60 miles offshore. 2 catrastrophic failures in one trip.  OMC Bought the motors back....finally.

Not only are they not a good product, they are down right dangerous. Pass.

I have decided, with help, to pass on them.
I will keep looking for a clean used pair of 150 to 200 hp motors.
I would like to find a nice low hour set.
Not a lot of choices out here in SO CA

Thanks for all the input
I appreciate it

Bryan

Whatever you do Bryan, do NOT look at anything A1 Outboards has to sell...but then, I probably didn't need to tell you that!

Bryan, do they have government auctions out your way? They run a lot of big USCG inflatables around here. Most with twin Hondas.

Worth a shot.

Scott,
Remember, the gubment boys put a LOT of hours on the Hondas.  Which obviously attests to their durability, but the life span is getting towards the end...

True be that Bob.

Also up here have some off drug boats. Those drug boys only use theirs on special occasions.

It's good for somethings, regardless of the a-holes that can rear their ugly rearends!

More like cars trucks and only sometimes.
My motor is really great, not a hurry thing, just got to thinking about a pair again
I am sure it will work out for me once the right pair come through.

If you come across a pair of ficht engines by bombadier (think i spelled that right) they were good engines but the ficht name was already tainted by that point which is why they went to the etec. The omc ficht engines had issues with the injectors actually blowing out of the holes because the hold down bolts were too small and they would break. Also the cooling line to the ecm on the engine was too small and clogged easily leaving you in limp mode when it clogged up which makes for a long ride home. The ones by bombadier addressed both of those issues and there are many out there that run very well. Best of luck on your hunt and I'll keep you posted if I come across anything down my way.

That is true, but they need to be around '01 or newer.  I was at Hydra-Sports (owned by OMC) in '99 when OMC went belly-up...

Yeah, the funny thing is my Yamaha is almost perfect.
Low hours, all serviced, always ready to go.
I just really like the idea of a pair of outboards.
I will keep looking, even though I dont need.
Really a want issue.
Also, if you guys hear about a good deal I would like to hear about it
Thanks much, as always
I really appreciate being part of this forum

ADMIN EDIT: I merged these topics together to avoid redundancy.

Hi guys, looking at a pair of  2000 Yamahas  OX 66  150s  on THT parts forum being sold by Derekd
He is asking about 8100.00 for everything.
Need your opinions on buying this pair of outboards and installing on my 1995 Osprey 25
I would appreciate your opinions good or bad

Thanks in advance

Bryan
