The paint has finally started but has been slow.

Made a new switch panel and it's ready to connect to the Blue Sea fuse block.

Paint looks good.  Not sure if the blotches we're seeing are reflections or sanded spots.
The switch panel is very nice.  :thumright:

Really nice fairing job!  In a previous life I spent a bunch of time under that bridge looking for sheephead, followed by shrimp creole at the Oyster Bar....  That was a while ago..

The first coat is the "tack" coat. That's why you see the blotches. The transom could'nt be painted b/c some blisters came back thru. I have to re-grind, dry out again, and go back. Glycol problems..!!

36 hours of body work with 2 people on the hull and deck. It takes allot to get the old boats straight. The engine will be a "new" rebuilt Evinrude 115 with custom paint. I will also have LED lights inside and under the center console on one switch and LED's in the compartments on another. It's been a fun project and my neighbor will be the new owner unless I decide to keep it. I really don't have room for it with 2 other boats. If the city will let me put a third boat lift in I will defiately keep it.

We are finally getting more work done. Many coats of primer and tons of block sanding. We got the top side finished and started on the deck and top side with more Awlogrip and GripTex non skid. It's looking really nice now.

Awlgrip rolled on the deck with GripTex applied. GripTex taped off for cleats. You can see the difference in the deck and the wall. Very Nice..!!

When mounting the console back into the boat does it have to be built up like original?

I would think it depends on what the design of the edge of the console is like. The edge on my 19-6 is very thin and needs some support under it. The one on the 222 has a wood cored lip that is about 3/4'" thick. I think this was done so the screws have something to bite into for strength. You don't have to replace the wood with wood. You could miter some starboard and screw through that. I have seen one boat that they used PVC door molding for a house and that seemed to work pretty good and was cheap and it won't ever rot.

I think I may have to b/c it's thin like you say. I was going to use Starboard also and work it to look like the shape of the original wood. Thanks for the info.
