A little creativity with Chris' Spreaders...
« on: April 04, 2012, 08:19:08 PM »
T-Tops have all kinds of spreader light mounts, some, none at all, just T/bolt through the frame!

In the case of the 24 Pursuit, the old halogen light was mounted to a solid aluminum block welded to the frame.  Standard C-shaped mounting bracket, had been on there for probably 14 years, those machine screws were not coming out!  Had to drill off the heads to get the bracket off, then grind down the shanks to allow the new mount to sit flush.  But how to feed the wire into the pass through, yet cover all the old holes?  Hmmm, new wire pass through on the new mounting bracket, courtesy of a 5/16" drill bit...

So if you have a weird mount that seems like it won't accept the new mount, just step back and think...

Now, to see how the green UW and cockpit lighting is going to look.  It's dark out now...

And what a difference a light makes!  The first pic, the old 55W halogen, sucking probably 7.5A...

The second?  Chris' LED, less than 2A...

Just a damn good product... :thumleft:  :thumleft:

Good job SB.

Thanks for the transom pic of the 2470 Pursuit. Mine was just like her, but with V4 130's.

Didn't have the rear end of the twin 150's...but delivered 2.2 mpg at 4200 RPM cruise, 26 mph true. The center hatch as you've pictured on the Euro-transom..my mess we rigged as a second livewell when tourney fishing.

Anyhow...should have kept that boat. As fishing interests developed back then...just a little smallish to make the 65 mile run one-way to the Stream. Especially in the "Graveyard of the Atlantic."

Thanks for the pics. Please post some more. She was a pretty hull.

Here are how my LED strip lights turned out.  Mounted under gunnell where rodholders are.  These lights are from Chris and ordered through Seabob.  They look great and are very bright    Sorry for the quality of the photo.  Could not use a flash.

Yes, they are very good at illuminating all the mess on the deck thus lowering your trip and fall percentage.
Very interesting antenna mount location.

Lookin' good JD. :thumright:

Bob,

I can't wait to post photos of Chris' lights - I installed two LED spreader lights and it looks like Pad 39 on a night launch back there !!

We'll be on the boat for salmon this weekend so I will take some shots.  Very pleased, thank you.  :salut:

Damn, JD, that came out nice!  And, no, you don't want to use a flash, ruins the true effect of the lighting...

Scott, I have all the pictures you could want of the sister to your old boat.  Yeah, she's a '98, has some gel cracking here and there, but, she's a Pursuit...and Pursuits are one of the boats that I admire...

Kinda start to finish, with a lot of crappy chit through in there...http://s259.photobucket.com/albums/hh30 ... t/?start=0

Matt,
Piece of cake on the install, I ran the wires aft from an On/Off/On switch (we tend to run out of switches, so just swap out an on/off for an on/off/on) waiting on the lights (actually, the owner! ).   Got my location, determined I had a good pass through going through the transom (1/4" hole), about an hour and a half done.  Now, granted, already had the wiring ready for the lights, just had to route and terminate in the bilge...

Figure 4 hours for install, if you want to do it right.  The helm on this Pursuit looks like this now...

...so no helter-skelter wiring, takes some time to route and terminate.

I'm PM you on pricing...

Whenever Bruce.  I tell you what would, to me, be an excellent addition, is a forward spreader bolted to the front side of your electronics box.  REALLY light up the pulpit area for your "windlass" to work in...

I have a good suggestion for a Christmas present from Amy...

My goodness and please...DO NOT look at it.
