Awesome. Two Gulls, united! If you look closely at OP's transom shot, you can in fact see the "pad" as referenced in the other thread. Looks like you have an answer, lac!

the faults I've seen with my are typical of most older boats, screws that penetrated into the foamed stringers & the support along the chines especially the side mounted rod holders, ended up with wet foam.

They waited till after the stringers were in place before they glassed the inner transom, so the wood didn't get a full inner skin of glass on it which put the stringer foam (eventually wet) right up against the transom.  My transom still felt solid but was definitely on it's way out.

And they didn't glass the vertical walls of the stringers all the way to the front of the boat, but instead left a gap at the forward cross member.  You can see where I've bridged the gap.  Not too surprising that the hull had some evidence of flexing here.

The 19-1 Gull was made in 1972.

As a number cruncher I can tell you that most typos are off by the number three. If you look at a 10-key pad the numbers are lined up as follows;

7 8 9
4 5 6
1 2 3

The year 1972 could easily be typed 1975 in error. My money is on 1972.

I saw that page on iBoats, but I just don't see them making a 19-1 and a 19-6 in '72 (they could have; just hard to believe that they'd have 2 different 19 foot hulls, just 5 inchese different in length). Since there is an article from '72 on the 19-6 (noting that the model tested was received new from Aquasport in May of that year, and that it is new compared to some "predecessor"), and since there doesn't appear to be any proof of any other '72 19-1's in existence, my money is on the '69-'71 range; if I had to pick one year, I'd take '71 (price is right style!). My guess is that the iBoats page is wrong, and that it's referencing the 19-1 models available in '71. That far back, how can anyone keep all this stuff straight for a boat anyway; let alone, all boats!

I should have added: because the boat is likely a '72 or newer, I doubt it has a HIN or other identification number, so the chances of completely solving this mystery are slim to none. Guess we might never know, exactly.

Impossible to see the pad in the aft in those pics - I would say that the transom has been replaced - scuppers are not normal and no lifting eyes although those don't seem to be on the other 191 posted either - my 70/71 170 has the lifting eyes on the transom.

I was lucky enough to pick mine up from the original owner who never molested the boat other than adding a bow pulpit and a couple rod holders in the cap, never had lifting eyes on the transom.  Everything else in my pics is factory, even came with the original bimini, rear anchor light holder, flip flop seat & insulated fish box.

That starboard hole up front is to drain the storage area under the front deck and is actually just above the water line.

i just found an old bill of sale from 1989 stating the85 hp motor was a 1975 so the title clerk back in 1990 issued a MA. serial number must have used that date for the year of the boat which has been determined is wrong  also on the bill of sale  it states aquasport 19-1  serial # 202  if this makes any sense i have attached the documentation for review,

Yes, it can make some sense.

We have seen (and I believe there are photos on this site) of small Aqua badges, usually located on the port side toward the stern (inside) with a #  (202) like that. Most feel it was the # depicting the hull coming off the line for that model so yours would have been the 202 hull made of that model. I'm speculating here but I feel there are more than a few members who will agree with that assumption.

Anyway, that plastic plate may be long gone and the re-titling process left to admins behind a desk following state policy on titling a "homemade" hull.

The best part of these old Aquas is finding/owning/figuring out what you got. That's the icing that makes ownership in this little society worth while.

Just my sole opinion.

Good luck with the mystery. :thumleft:
